Anthony McFarland Jr. - Making impact early in camp McFarland made a pair of big plays during Thursday's practice session, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.
Impact McFarland was a fourth-round pick by the Steelers in 2020, but he's on the roster bubble ahead of the 2022 season. The 23-year-old has had minimal work over his first two professional seasons, rushing 36 times for 116 yards while securing seven of 10 targets for 65 yards. However, he broke off a 70-yard touchdown run during Thursday's practice session before making a contested catch along the sideline later in the day. McFarland is competing with Benny Snell and Mataeo Durant to serve as backfield depth for the Steelers ahead of the regular season. Even if McFarland wins a roster spot, he's unlikely to be a significant fantasy contributor as long as Najee Harris (foot) is healthy.

Anthony Miller - Making case for roster spot Miller has been making a strong case for a spot on the Steelers' 53-man roster early in training camp, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.
Impact Miller signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers in January but has made some strong plays over the first few days of camp. The 28-year-old is familiar with the team's system after spending time on Pittsburgh's practice squad in 2021, and he's attempting to carve out a role as a slot receiver and returner ahead of the preseason.

Mitch Trubisky - Likely frontrunner for starting job Trubisky has been treated like the favorite to serve as the Steelers' starting quarterback early in training camp, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic reports.
Impact Trubisky has received consistent reps with the first-team offense over the first week of camp, and he worked exclusively with the starters Thursday while Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett split reps between the second-team and third-team offenses, Chris Halicke of DKPittsburghSports.com reports. Coach Mike Tomlin has told reporters not to read too much into the distribution of reps among the team's quarterbacks early in camp, but Trubisky has certainly been given plenty of opportunities to showcase his potential. The 2017 first-rounder has been inconsistent while learning a new system and dealing with absences of key offensive skill players, but the team has still entrusted him with a meaningful workload. Rudolph and Pickett should continue to compete with Trubisky throughout training camp and the preseason, but Trubisky appears to be the frontrunner for the starting job with just over a month remaining until the regular season.
