Josh Whyle - Returning this week?Head coach Brian Callahan told reporters Monday that he's hoping to get Whyle (concussion) back practicing this week, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
ImpactThe second-year tight end has missed over a week with a concussion, but it appears he's nearing a return to the field after his head coach's comments Monday. Whyle appeared in 11 games in 2023, recording nine catches for 94 yards and one touchdown. He's expected to serve as the Titans' top backup tight end once he clears concussion protocol.

Cedrick Wilson Jr. - Sits for preseason finaleWilson did not play in Sunday's 30-27 preseason loss to the Titans.
ImpactWilson was among an extensive group of Saints players who did not play in the preseason finale, as the team held out the vast majority of its starters and key backups. This also comes one week after the 28-year-old started in New Orleans' second preseason contest. His usage and playing time in these two exhibitions seems to indicate that Wilson has secured a spot as the team's third or fourth wideout ahead of the regular season. With Rashid Shaheed (hamstring) still working his way back from injury, Wilson could even step in to play as the No. 2 wideout alongside Chris Olave in Week 1.

Samson Nacua - Nearly return miss FG for TDNacua failed to log in either of his two targets during Sunday's 30-27 preseason loss to the Titans. He also returned a missed field-goal attempt for 106 yards.
ImpactNacua nearly pulled off the highlight of the preseason when he returned a 58-yard field-goal try that fell short of the uprights at the end of the first half. The 26-year-old evaded almost every would-be tackler on his way to the end zone, but he was pushed out of bounds by Titans tight end Thomas Odukoya just nine yards shy of the goal line. Nacua has been competing for a fringe roster spot with the Saints this preseason, and an extreme effort play this could help him stand out when the team ahed of Tuesday's deadline to get down to a final 53-man roster. However, with no regular-season playing time in his career, it's likely that Nacua will be on the outside looking in while more experienced veterans like Cedrick Wilson and/or Equanimeous St. Brown snag the final roster spots alongside recent draft picks like A.T. Perry and Bub Means.

Jamaal Williams - Doesn't play in preseason finaleWilliams did not suit up for Sunday's 30-27 preseason loss to Tennessee.
ImpactWilliams was one of a long list of Saints' players who sat out Sunday, as the team rested the vast majority of starters and key backups. The 29-year-old finishes the preseason with 11 carries for 52 yards and two catches for another three yards across two appearances this preseason. Williams' role as the No. 2 running back behind Alvin Kamara should be locked up heading into Week 1, as 2023 third-round Kendre Miller (hamstring) has been sidelined for nearly all of training camp and could even start out the regular season on IR, according to Jeff Nowak of The Big 870 New Orleans. This would leave Jordan Mims and/or James Robinson as the next likely options to serve as the No. 3 running back versus Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 8.
