Although the blowout nature of Sunday's game resulted in Blackshear getting more involved, it was nonetheless his best performance as a pro. In playing four more offensive snaps than fellow tailback Spencer Brown, Blackshear's usage could be interesting to monitor in Week 10's Thursday night game versus the Falcons, when Chuba Hubbard (ankle) may remain sidelined behind starter D'Onta Foreman.

Impact The undrafted rookie out of Virginia Tech initially earned a practice squad spot in Buffalo before signing with the Panthers on Sept. 21. A little more than a month later, Blackshear played his first offensive snaps in the NFL, taking two carries for a loss of five yards in a 21-3 win over the Buccaneers in Week 7. He also has eight kick returns for 224 yards this season, and his role this Sunday could include a considerable amount of the work on passing downs. D'Onta Foreman is the likely starter and lead runner, after taking 17 touches for 145 yards in the win over Tampa Bay. Wilks said Spencer Brown may be called up from the practice squad to provide the team with a third healthy back this weekend.

Impact Blackshear was handed the first touches of his NFL career after the Panthers traded star tailback Christian McCaffrey late last week. While D'Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard split most of the backfield workload in the wake of McCaffrey's departure, Blackshear got involved for a little bit during the second half Sunday, when Hubbard exited due to an ankle injury. Should Hubbard be slowed ahead of Week 8's matchup versus the Buccaneers, Blackshear could get more reps than usual, but his fantasy stock is otherwise rather restricted.
