Career outing in loss Shaheed gathered in all four targets for 75 yards during Monday's 17-16 loss against Tampa Bay.
Impact Shaheed continued to serve as the explosive element in the Saints' limited offense, catching a 40-yard pass from quarterback Andy Dalton for the team's longest play from scrimmage Monday night. The undrafted wideout also quickly set a new career high when he reached 71 receiving yards with his third reception of the first half. The speedster came close to breaking the first special-teams score of his career on a 42-yard punt return in the second quarter, but he was forced out of bounds by punter Jake Camarda at the Tampa Bay 40-yard line. Shaheed's dynamic abilities as both a receiver and scoring threat in the open field appear to have earned him a bigger role, as his 36 offensive snaps fell behind only first-round rookie Chris Olave (41) amongst the Saints' wide receivers. The team will now have a bye week off before taking on the division-rival Falcons on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Impact Back-to-back limited practices suggest Shaheed is on track to play, though it's still possible he gets a game designation when the Saints release their final injury report Friday for Monday's game in Tampa Bay. The undrafted rookie out of Weber State made some big plays on limited snaps in October and then played 48 and 53 percent of snaps the past two weeks. After catching two of three targets for 53 yards in a shutout loss to San Francisco last week, Shaheed could get another look Monday night as the Saints' No. 3 receiver, with the other options being Kevin White (illness), Tre'Quan Smith and Marquez Callaway.

Impact Shaheed has worked his way into a consistent role within the Saints offense, recording at least one catch in five of the last six games and seeing 48-plus percent of the snaps in back-to-back contests. During that six-game span, he's recorded an 8-164-1 line on 10 targets and also added a six-yard carry. Now, the injury bug that has hammered New Orleans' skill positions this year is affecting Shaheed. On a positive note, though, he has two more sessions this week to get back to full and avoid a designation for Monday's road matchup with the Buccaneers.

After putting up two touchdowns and 97 total yards on his first two touches of the season, the 24-year-old has come back down to earth with two receptions on three targets for 20 yards over the past three weeks.
