Impact Spillane appeared in 14 games (four starts) last season and totaled 56 tackles (29 solo), including two for loss. The fifth-year linebacker figures to provide depth behind Devin Bush and Myles Jack again in 2022, but his role may increase slightly with the departure of Joe Schobert.

Impact Spillane has earned over 300 defensive snaps in each of the last two seasons with the Steelers, and he managed a career-best 56 tackles in 2021. He'll currently earn around $2.4 million in 2022, though he could sign for more elsewhere with the Steelers then having the option to match the terms. If Spillane remains in Pittsburgh, he could have a significant role in 2022, particularly if the team decides to part ways with Joe Schobert to free additional cap space.
