Impact Tonyan stuck as the top tight end option in Green Bay, seeing the field for nearly two-thirds of the team's offensive snaps for the third straight contest. The undrafted product of Indiana State saw his usage in the passing game increase for the third consecutive game as well, culminating in a career-best 50 receiving yards while finding the end zone for the second time in as many weeks. Tonyan is quietly making some noise in fantasy circles, as any starter playing alongside this rejuvenated version of Aaron Rodgers should garner attention. The 26-year-old shouldn't be considered a top option yet, but it is worth monitoring his production against the Falcons in Week 4 in the event his recent hot streak continues.

Impact Tonyan led Packers tight ends in snaps for the second week in a row and registered both his first receptions and score of the 2020 season. He lacks much of a track record and is still an iffy long-term option in fantasy leagues, but he does appear to be the best bet among the Packers' tight ends after two weeks, and he could be asked to contribute more in the passing game in Week 3 if receiver Davante Adams (hamstring) -- and to a lesser degree, fellow tight end Josiah Deguara (shin) and running back Tyler Ervin (concussion) -- cannot take the field.

Primed for pass-catching role? Tonyan likely will start the season as Green Bay's top receiving threat at tight end, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Impact The role widely was viewed as Jace Sternberger's to lose, and the 2019 third-round pick may have indeed fallen behind in the competition. The 26-year-old Tonyan will likely be part of a rotation at the position, with Sternberger, Josiah Deguara and Marcedes Lewis also in the mix to earn roles. Tonyan has 14 catches in 27 regular-season games for the Packers, so there hasn't been much hint of fantasy upside during his career.

Getting work with starters Tonyan has been taking some reps with the starting offense in practice, Mike Spofford of Packers.com reports.
Impact Most discussion of the Green Bay tight ends has focused on 2019 third-round pick Jace Sternberger and rookie third-rounder Josiah Deguara, but it sounds like Tonyan and 36-year-old blocking specialist Marcedes Lewis are also right in the mix to earn playing time. Tonyan originally caught on with the Packers' practice squad as an undrafted rookie back in 2017, and he then caught 14 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns in 27 games the past two seasons, playing more snaps on special teams (326) than offense (260). The 26-year-old seems to have made a clean recovery from offseason surgery for a core muscle injury, and he's now hoping to be a significant part of the Green Bay passing attack.
