Cut after coming off COVID list The Texans released Johnson on Wednesday after activating him from the reserve/COVID-19 list, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
Impact Johnson landed on the COVID-19 list as a close contact Aug. 13. Over the last three seasons, Johnson appeared in 19 total games for Houston.

Impact It's not yet known whether Johnson has tested positive for the virus, but he'll join two of his fellow offensive linemen on the COVID-19 list ahead of Saturday's preseason game against Green Bay. His status for Houston's second preseason game against the Cowboys on Aug. 21 depends on how quickly he can clear the league's health and safety protocols.
