It remains to be seen if he'll be able to do enough this week to make a sixth appearance Sunday against the Raiders.

Likely to miss time due to injury The Giants are preparing for Shepard to miss time after he suffered a left quadriceps strain in Monday's 20-17 loss to the Chiefs, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Shepard had suited up in only two of the Giants' previous five games while battling a hamstring injury, and he looks set to miss at least Sunday's game against the Raiders in Week 9 while he contends with another lower-body injury. Fortunately for Shepard, the Giants are on bye Week 10, so the wideout presumably will be turning his focus to getting healthy in advance of a Nov. 22 matchup with the Buccaneers in Week 11. Assuming the Giants officially rule Shepard out for the Week 9 contest, the team would be left with Kenny Golladay (knee), Kadarius Toney (hand) and Darius Slayton as their main options at receiver. Golladay has missed the Giants' last three games but at least seems to be trending in the right direction to play against Las Vegas, while Toney exited Monday's loss with a laceration to his hand but should have a decent chance at being ready to go for the weekend.

Impact On the Giants' final drive of the first half, Shepard went down with a non-contract injury and stayed on the turf for a bit before making his way to the sideline, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. Shepard was favoring his left leg and attempted to stretch it out, but the team won't take any chances with the wide receiver after halftime. He's no stranger to lower-body injuries this season, having dealt with issues with both of his hamstrings and missing three games as a result. With just one contest before a Week 10 bye, New York could exercise additional caution with Shepard and hold him out Sunday against the Raiders to ensure he's good for the second half of the campaign.
