Officially out for Week 16 The Titans have ruled Tannehill (ankle) out for Saturday's game against the Texans, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Though the right ankle injury Tannehill sustained in the Titans' Week 15 loss to the Chargers cost him only one offensive series before he was able to return, the veteran signal-caller wasn't able to practice in any fashion Tuesday through Thursday before Tennessee opted to rule him out for the third time this season. Malik Willis will step in as the Titans' starting signal-caller this weekend, and quite possibly the rest of the way, as Davenport reported Wednesday that Tannehill is likely to require season-ending surgery on the ankle. For now, the Titans are ruling Tannehill out only for one game, but an eventual move to injured reserve would signal that the Tennessee isn't counting on the 34-year-old playing again in 2022.

Impact For the time being, Tennessee has ruled Tannehill out only for the Week 16 contest, but Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reported Wednesday that the Titans' top signal-caller is "very likely" done for the season due to a right ankle injury that is expected to require surgery. Tannehill's absence sets up Willis to make his third start of the season, including his second against the Texans, which came back in the two teams' previous matchup in Week 8. During Willis' prior two-game run as the starter, the Titans leaned heavily on running back Derrick Henry, with the rookie signal-caller attempting just 26 total passes and accounting for only 135 yards the air between a win over Houston and a Week 9 loss to Kansas City. The speedy Willis at least proved to be more of a threat on the ground, rushing 13 times for 52 yards in those games. While his rushing ability gives him some theoretical fantasy upside, Willis' lack of reliable passing volume makes it difficult to justify starting him in one-quarterback lineups.

Impact The Titans haven't yet determined if the veteran quarterback will require surgery to address the ankle injury he sustained in the Titans' Week 15 loss to the Chargers. If surgery is ultimately required, Tannehill would likely be officially shut down for the season, paving the way for rookie Malik Willis to start the final three games of the campaign and any postseason contests that follow. Tannehill hasn't officially been ruled out for this Saturday's game against the Texans, but all signs point to Willis starting that contest, at a minimum.

Impact The Titans have a lengthy injury report that includes a number of starters missing practice Wednesday, but they'll at least get one of their top defenders back in the lineup for Saturday's matchup with Houston. Autry has seven sacks and 16 quarterback hits in 10 appearances, giving him an outside shot at double-digit sacks even after the four-game absence.

Impact Burks was listed as a full participant on Tuesday's practice estimate, so the wideout is clearly trending in the right direction ahead of Saturday's game against the Texans. In order to approach the contest minus an injury designation, however, the Titans will need to confirm that Burks has cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol following Thursday's practice.

If Tannehill ends up sidelined versus Houston, Malik Willis would be in line to make his third career start.

Signed to Titans' active roster Dobbs was signed by the Titans off of the Lions' practice squad Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Dobbs was reverted to the Lions' practice unit after being active for the team's Week 15 win over the Jets, but he will now head to Tennessee. The quarterback could serve as the backup option behind Malik Willis in Week 16 if Ryan Tannehill (ankle) is unable to go versus Houston. Dobbs last attempted a regular season pass in 2020, spending most of his time on practice squads the last few years.

Two sacks Sunday Walker recorded five tackles (four solo), including two sacks, in Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Chargers.

Impact Walker played a season-high 59 percent of Tennessee's defensive snaps with fellow edge defender Denico Autry (knee) sidelined Week 15. As a result, the sixth-year defensive end reached 6.5 tackles in the past eight weeks, setting a new career high in this category for Walker. Impact Simmons finished as the Titans' second-leading tackler behind cornerback Greg Mabin, and he also contributed one of the team's three sacks against Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. The defensive end has dealt with an ankle injury over the past five weeks, though he still played a season-high 93 percent of Tennessee's defensive snaps Sunday. Simmons is now seven tackles and one sack away from matching his career highs in both of these categories, and he should have a chance to reach these marks against Houston's struggling offense Week 16.

Earlier Tuesday, coach Mike Vrabel relayed to Turron Davenport of ESPN.com that he hoped Burks would take part in the upcoming walkthrough, and the rookie wide receiver was able to handle enough reps to be considered a full participant. That doesn't necessarily mean Burks is in the clear yet as he makes his way through the protocol for head injuries, but he at least appears to be in the final phase or two, which bodes well for his odds to return Saturday versus the Texans.

Impact Tannehill picked up yet another ankle issue this past Sunday at the Chargers, but he was able to return, finishing with 165 yards, no touchdowns and one interception on 68 percent passing and three carries for one yard and a score during a 17-14 loss. On Monday, coach Mike Vrabel indicated Tannehill will remain the Titans' starting signal-caller Saturday against the Texans if his health allows him to, per Wyatt. Kicking off the week with a DNP isn't exactly a great sign that Tannehill is in line to do so, but he at least has a pair of sessions remaining to put himself back on a path to active status. If Tannehill ends up sidelined this weekend, though, rookie Malik Willis again would step in for the veteran quarterback.

Impact Bullock missed a 51-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, a kick that would have given Tennessee a three-point lead. Impact Hooper played fewer snaps than both Chigoziem Okonkwo and Geoff Swaim, though he still was among three Titans with four targets. He made good use of the opportunity, and his 17-yard catch late in the fourth quarter led directly to a game-tying touchdown for Tennessee. After a slow start to the season, Hooper has at least 30 yards in seven of his last nine contests.

Impact Woods finished second among Tennessee's wide receivers in snaps -- he had one fewer than Nick Westbrook-Ikhine -- but that didn't lead to much production. His most notable opportunity came when he was targeted inside the five early in the second quarter, though Derrick Henry ultimately punched in the score one play later. Woods now has 30 or fewer receiving yards in nine games on the campaign.
