Headed for backup role Siemian will serve as the Saints' backup quarterback Thursday against the Cowboys with New Orleans set to give Taysom Hill his first start of the season, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com... Impact Head coach Sean Payton stopped short of saying the Saints would be making a change at quarterback Week 13, acknowledging that he wanted to see how Hill -- who is nursing a foot injury -- fared at Wednesday's practice before naming a starter. The fact that Hill doesn't carry a designation into Thursday's contest confirms that he'll be ready to make his first start of the season, ending Siemian's four-game tenure atop the depth chart. After coming on in relief of Jameis Winston (knee) in Week 8 and helping lead New Orleans to an upset win over Tampa Bay, Siemian submitted an 0-4 record as a starter while completing 57.6 percent of his attempts for 6.4 yards per attempt and an 8:3 TD:INT. Hill likely won't offer much of an improvement, if any, over Siemian when it comes to downfield throwing, but he's proven to be a more accurate passer during his career and is a significantly bigger threat as a runner.
