Finds work in New Orleans Welch signed with the Saints' practice squad Thursday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.

Impact Welch didn't make the cut for the Browns' initial 53-man roster Tuesday, but he's quickly found a new home on the Saints' practice squad. The 23-year-old tight end went undrafted out of Wyoming this past offseason and he could spend time with New Orleans' active roster if the team's tight end room faces injuries at some point.

Out in Cleveland The Browns waived Welch on Tuesday, Kelsey Russo of the team's official site reports.

Impact Welch inked a deal with the Browns in May after going undrafted this past offseason, but the team has now decided to move in a different direction. The Wyoming product caught 31 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns during his final collegiate season.

Expects to miss multiple weeks Coach Kevin Stefanski said Sunday that Ricci (knee) is expected to miss "a few weeks," Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Ricci picked up a knee issue during Saturday's preseason game versus the Vikings, and it sounds like it could compromise his availability for Week 1 of the regular season. Until he can come back, rookie undrafted free agent Treyton Welch could see increased reps.
