Couple weeks away from returning Head coach Sean McVay said Friday that Higbee (knee) is "a couple weeks away" from making his return, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Higbee's making progress in his recovery from a torn ACL and MCL suffered in last season's playoffs, but his return to game action is still multiple weeks away. Once cleared to come off the PUP list, Higbee will presumably require a ramp-up period in practice before he's ready to make his season debut. Davis Allen has taken over as the Rams' top tight end in recent weeks, leapfrogging Colby Parkinson on the depth chart.

Ahead of schedule on knee rehab Head coach Sean McVay said Monday that Higbee is "ahead of schedule" of his recovery from a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.

Impact Higbee suffered the injury during the Rams' playoff loss to the Lions in January. He's been on the PUP list since training camp, and while he hasn't returned to practice, McVay relayed that the veteran tight end has present at practices and hinted that Higbee could return later in the regular season. While Higbee remains sidelined, Colby Parkinson will continue to serve as the Rams' No. 1 tight end while Hunter Long and Davis Allen operate as the backups.

He's been on the PUP list since the start of training camp, with no real updates on his progress apart from the official transactions.
