GAME LOG

INJURIES

Snares to passes versus Texans Thornton logged two receptions (on three targets) for 19 yards during Sunday's 20-10 defeat versus Houston.
Impact Thornton continues to be part of the glob of wideouts who rotate in to occasionally spell the primary duo of Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, logging a 30 percent offensive snap share to sit just behind JuJu Smith-Schuster (38 percent) and Hollywood Brown (34 percent) in the group that trails mainstays Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. There's little to like from the former group in terms of fantasy, Thornton included, but he should continue to mix into the offensive scheme as a deep threat.

Blanked by Colts Thornton didn't reel in his lone target during Sunday's 23-20 overtime victory against the Colts.
Impact Thornton's role on offense has declined significantly with all of the Chiefs' weapons available, and there's nothing to suggest that will change. Thornton remains a deep-threat option in the passing attack, evidenced by his 61-yard grab in Week 11 versus the Broncos, but he'll likely see minimal opportunities moving forward, so he can be viewed as a depth piece with some upside if injuries hit the wide receiver room.
NOVEMBER 25 • ROTOWIRE
One grab in loss Thornton caught one of his two targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 22-19 loss to the Broncos.
Impact Thornton made one big play Sunday, catching a 61-yard deep ball from Patrick Mahomes in the third quarter. The 25-year-old wideout has proven he can make explosive plays when called upon by Kansas City, but he he has seen his snap counts decrease since teammate Rashee Rice returned from his six-game suspension in Week 7. In Week 11, Thornton played just 16 of the Chiefs' 70 offensive snaps, the fewest of any Chiefs wide receiver. Based on his limited usage in the Kansas City's aerial attack, the Baylor product remains difficult to trust for fantasy purposes. With that said, Thornton will look to make the most of his opportunities again in Week 12 when the Chiefs host the Colts.

Snap counts dwindling Thornton failed to reel in his lone target during Sunday's 28-21 loss against the Bills.
Impact Thornton got off to a hot start in 2025, registering 13 catches for 272 yards and three touchdowns through the first five games, but there's been an about-face in production since then. Over the past four contests, Thornton has tallied just one catch for 39 yards on three total targets and has logged fewer than 30 snaps in each contest (fewer than 20 in three of four). Assuming the wideout room remains healthy, it's tough to see Thornton boasting enough of a role on offense to warrant fantasy consideration in most formats.
NOVEMBER 4 • ROTOWIRE
Minimal output versus Raiders Thornton reeled in one of his two targets for 39 yards during Sunday's 31-0 victory over the Raiders.
Impact Despite a strong start to the season where Thornton turned in three touchdowns in the first four weeks, Thornton has seen his playing time fall off from Week 4 on, playing less than half of the offensive snaps in each of the past four contests. With Rashee Rice back in the mix for KC, there are not as many snaps to go around in the wideout room, so it's unlikely Thornton will see his role grow unless injuries hit.

Held without a catch Thornton was not targeted during Sunday night's 30-17 win over Detroit.
Impact Thornton fell back to earth Week 6, playing just 27 percent of offensive snaps and finishing without a target for the first time this season. His decline in usage and involvement bodes especially poorly with Rashee Rice (suspension) eligible for reinstatement Week 7 versus the Raiders. As such, Thornton looks positioned to work behind all of Rice, Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster versus Las Vegas in Week 7, a role wherein he could be relegated to little more than scripted downfield plays.

Finishes as team's leading receiver Thornton finished with three catches for 90 yards on five targets in Monday's 31-28 loss to the Jaguars.
Impact After drawing a team-high nine targets in the Chiefs' Week 3 win over the Giants, Thornton saw his role in the passing game take a significant hit in the Week 4 win over the Ravens, when Kansas City returned Xavier Worthy from a two-game absence. Though he still ranked fourth among Chiefs receivers in snap share (45 percent) and ranked fourth overall in targets in Monday's win, Thornton was able to make the most of his opportunities. He accounted for three of the Chiefs' four biggest plays of the night, ripping off gains of 34, 32 and 24 yards on downfield throws by quarterback Patrick Mahomes. As one of the speedier players on the roster, Thornton could continue to have a role as a vertical threat even when Rashee Rice returns from suspension Week 7, but Thornton's game-to-game production will likely be somewhat volatile.

Role fades in Worthy's return Thornton recorded one reception on two targets for 11 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-20 win over the Ravens.
Impact Thornton emerged as Kansas City's top pass catcher in Week 3, but he was an afterthought with Xavier Worthy active for the first time since Week 1. Thornton managed to make the most of his opportunity with an 11-yard touchdown catch down the middle of the field to kick off the second half. He has found the end zone in three straight games, but his current role in the team's offense makes him an unreliable fantasy option.
