DeForest Buckner - Hopeful for Week 2Head coach Shane Steichen is hopeful Buckner (back) will be able to play this Sunday against the Packers, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ImpactBuckner left late in Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Texans, recording six total tackles, including 1.5 sacks, before his exit. Any missed time for the Oregon product, whom Steichen described as "tough as nails" when discussing his potential Week 2 availability, would be a major blow for the Colts' defense. Buckner's practice status in the days ahead may help shed some light on how likely he'll be to play against Green Bay, but it is also possible he could just suit up without practicing this week.

Matt Gay - Could return Week 2Head coach Shane Steichen said Monday that Gay (sports hernia) will continue to be monitored throughout the week, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
ImpactGay wasn't able to play in the Colts' Week 1 loss to the Texans while he recovered from the sports hernia procedure he underwent shortly after Indianapolis' preseason finale, but the veteran kicker looks like he could move past the issue soon. The Colts will monitor Gay's activity in practice this week before determining his availability for Sunday's game in Green Bay, but if he's unable to kick this weekend, Indianapolis would likely elevate Spencer Shrader from the practice squad once again. Shrader converted all three of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 29-27 loss to Houston.

Matt Gay - Could return Week 2Head coach Shane Steichen told reporters Monday that Gay (hernia) will continue to be monitored throughout the week, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
ImpactGay was unable to suit up for Indianapolis' Week 1 contest due to a hernia, but it appears he could be moving past the issue soon. If the week progresses and Gay is still sidelined, expect Spencer Shrader to assume the Colts' kicking duties again in Week 2 after converting all three of his extra-point attempts Sunday.

Josh Downs - Being monitored for Week 2Coach Shane Steichen said Monday the Colts will monitor Downs (ankle) heading into the team's Week 2 road matchup against the Packers, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin...
ImpactDowns was held out of Indianapolis' 29-27 loss to the Texans on Sunday, but it sounds like he could have a chance to return Week 2 at Green Bay. With Downs sidelined, Alec Pierce was able to translate his increased opportunities into a huge impact, securing all three of his targets for 125 yards and a touchdown. Even if Downs is healthy Week 2, Pierce's impressive performance leaves the Colts with a crowded wide receiver room, with Michael Pittman atop the depth chart and rookie second-round pick Adonai Mitchell having drawn five targets Week 1.
