Hidden truths behind Mac Jones' season-best game; notes on Bills, Jets, Dolphins

QB switch does nothing to help improve terrible Texans

The Houston Texans benched Davis Mills for Kyle Allen this week with coach Lovie Smith saying the switch gave them their best chance to win against the Miami Dolphins

Rex Burkhead - In concussion protocolCoach Lovie Smith revealed Monday that Burkhead has entered the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports.
ImpactBurkhead exited Sunday's loss to the Dolphins with a head injury, and he may have suffered a concussion. If Burkhead is unable to pass the protocol prior to facing the Browns in Week 13, Dare Ogunbowale and Eno Benjamin will both be candidates to fill Burkhead's usual change-of-pace role behind Dameon Pierce.

Jason Sanders - Perfect in blowout winSanders converted all three field-goal tries and all three extra-point attempts during Sunday's 30-15 win over the Texans.
ImpactSanders predictably saw plentiful opportunities Sunday, in a matchup that saw Houston's defense look overmatched by Miami's offense straight out of the gate. The kicker likely could have put up more points if the Dolphins didn't opt to take the foot off the gas pedal after taking a 30-0 lead, ultimately pulling quarterback Tua Tagovailoa early. Sanders doesn't project for as easy a matchup Week 13 against the 49ers' stout defense.

Durham Smythe - First receiving touchdown of seasonSmythe secured his only target for a four-yard touchdown during Sunday's 30-15 win over the Texans.
ImpactSmythe previously scored on the ground versus the Jets back in Week 5, but Sunday's blowout win over Houston provided the No. 2 tight end an opportunity to hit paydirt through the air. Of course, Sunday's score was also Smythe's only catch since Week 5, so he can safely be left off the fantasy radar heading into a tough Week 13 matchup against the 49ers.

River Cracraft - Impactful in Week 12 winCracraft secured all four of his targets for 55 yards during Sunday's 30-15 win over Houston.
ImpactCracraft was involved in Sunday's gameplan, one that saw Tua Tagovailoa spread the ball around between nine different pass-catchers while still focusing most on Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill (undisclosed), who combined for 19 targets. In seven prior appearances this season Cracraft combined for just two catches, so he's not yet on the fantasy radar, but it's noteworthy to see the 28-year-old so involved Week 12.

Mike Gesicki - Held without a catchGesicki failed to secure his only target during Sunday's 30-15 win over the Texans.
ImpactMeanwhile, No. 2 tight end Durham Smythe turned his only target into a four-yard touchdown, the only score Tua Tagovailoa threw before exiting Sunday's blowout win early. Tagovailoa has excelled at distributing the ball efficiently, and he connected with nine different targets for completions versus Houston, solidifying the reality that Gesicki's fantasy floor has bottomed out. The athletic tight end is still a big-play threat, but with just three catches in his last three games, it will be difficult for fantasy managers to rely on Gesicki heading into a Week 13 matchup against the 49ers.
