Browns again hurt themselves in painful road loss to Falcons

Another distracting week ended with another frustrating loss for the Cleveland Browns

Caleb Huntley - Competing for top RB gigHuntley will compete with Tyler Allgeier for the No. 1 running back role after the Falcons placed Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) on injured reserve Monday, Scott Bair of the team's o...
ImpactPatterson was limited in the second half of Sunday's win over the Browns due to a knee issue he dealt with in practice last week, which paved the way for Huntley, who was elevated from the practice squad, and Allgeier, a rookie fifth-round pick, to garner major roles in Atlanta's comeback win. Huntley rushed 10 times for 56 yards and a touchdown, with the majority of that production coming on one drive in the second half. His performance has earned him a spot on the active roster, but Allgeier likely will get first crack at being the lead back in Patterson's absence. Regardless, both running backs face a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay in Week 5.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah - Totals seven tackles in Week 4Owusu-Koramoah generated seven tackles (four solo) and a pass defense during the Browns' 23-20 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
ImpactOwusu-Koramoah was limited in practice this week due to a groin injury that he sustained during the Browns' win over the Steelers in Week 3. However, he didn't have an injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup and tied for the team lead in tackles. The 2021 second-rounder has racked up 21 tackles (16 solo), a pass defense and a forced fumble over the first four games of the 2022 season.

Jacob Phillips - Productive as starterPhillips tallied seven tackles (six solo) during the Browns' 23-20 loss to Atlanta on Sunday.
ImpactPhillips started Sunday's game and tied for the team lead in tackles. Since Anthony Walker (quadriceps) has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, Phillips should continue to serve as the Browns' starting middle linebacker going forward.

Tyler Allgeier - Increased role on horizonAllgeier is set for an expanded role after the Falcons placed Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) on injured reserve Monday, Scott Bair of the team's official site reports.
ImpactThe injuries keep coming for the Falcons' running back room, which already has Damien Williams (ribs) on IR, so the rookie fifth-round pick may get an extended look as a lead back early in his career. With Patterson limited in the second half, Atlanta turned to Allgeier (11 touches for 104 yards) and Caleb Huntley (10 rushes for 56 yards and a score), as the two dominated on the ground en route to a comeback victory. After being elevated from the practice squad ahead of Week 4, Huntley officially was signed to the active roster Monday to take Patterson's spot, but Allgeier figures to get the first crack as the team's lead back in the absence of Patterson and Williams. Avery Williams, who was converted to running back this offseason, likely will get a few additional looks as well, but he's been limited to a change-of-pace role to start the season. Through three appearances, Allgeier has totaled 28 touches for 164 yards from scrimmage (5.9 yards per touch), but he'll face a stiff test against Tampa Bay in Week 5.
