Jake Moody - Won't play Week 8Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Moody (ankle) won't play in next Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

ImpactThe 49ers have a Week 9 bye, so Moody will get another two weeks to heal. Anders Carlson will again kick for San Francisco after he made both of his field-goal attempts (from 55 and 24 yards) against Kansas City. Carlson, however, missed his one extra-point try.

RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) remains on IR and is unlikely to return this week, WR Brandon Aiyuk suffered ACL and MCL tears in his right ankle Sunday against the Chiefs, and WR Deebo Samuel is hospitalized with pneumonia and doesn't have a timeline for his return, leaving Kittle as the healthiest of the bunch. Still, Kittle may have some practice limitations Wednesday through Friday to ensure he at least is available to Purdy and San Francisco's offense Week 7.

With McCaffrey still sidelined, though, Jordan Mason will continue to operate as the 49ers' lead running back.

ImpactCarlson made his debut for the 49ers on Sunday and made kicks from 24 and 55 yards out. The former Packers' placekicker missed his only PAT, but it was a decent debut from a fantasy standpoint. If Jake Moody (ankle) is unable to suit up for next Sunday's tilt against the Cowboys, then Carlson would likely earn another start with San Francisco.

ImpactAiyuk will under surgery and miss the remainder of the season, ending it with 25 catches (on 47 targets) for 374 yards and no touchdowns in seven games. With Deebo Samuel suffering from pneumonia, Jauan Jennings dealing with a hip issue and Chris Conley tending to a sprained ankle, the 49ers' current healthy wide receivers on the active roster are Ricky Pearsall, Jacob Cowing and Ronnie Bell.
