Gets on scoresheet with helper
Boqvist notched an assist in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Red Wings.
Impact
Boqvist will get the first crack at replacing Alexander Romanov (upper body) in the Islanders' lineup. The helper was Boqvist's first point in seven outings this season, and he's added two shots on net, two hits, five blocked shots and a plus-2 rating. Boqvist will likely be limited to third-pairing minutes, so he's not going to be a major factor on the scoresheet.

Spot could open up in lineup
Boqvist was scratched in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Stars, but there may be room for him in the lineup if Alexander Romanov (upper body) misses time.
Impact
Boqvist has been a seventh defenseman this season, but he has managed to get into six of the Islanders' first 20 games. He's yet to record a point while adding one shot on goal, four blocked shots and two PIM. The 25-year-old could be the next man up to cover any potential absence for Romanov, who was boarded hard by Mikko Rantanen late in Tuesday's contest. Boqvist still won't have much fantasy appeal, as he lacks a clear path to power-play time even when he plays.

Extending Island stay
Boqvist signed a one-year, $850,000 extension with the Islanders, the team announced Friday.
Impact
Boqvist has bounced between four NHL teams in his six NHL seasons, but has earned himself an additional season with the Islanders. A midseason waiver claim from Florida, the 24-year-old posted two goals and six assists in 17 games after arriving in Long Island and was a fixture on the team's second power play unit.

Two helpers against former club
Boqvist notched two assists in Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.
Impact
Returning from an upper-body injury in time to face the team he spent the last three seasons with, Boqvist helped set up tallies by Pierre Engvall in the first period and Anders Lee in the second. Boqvist was pressed into service as a forward due to the absences of Mathew Barzal (knee) and Hudson Fasching (illness), but with the Islanders now completely healthy on the blue line, it's not clear if there will be room for Boqvist at his usual position. On the season, he's delivered four goals and 13 points in 31 appearances.

Good to go
Boqvist (upper body) will be in the lineup against Columbus on Monday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Impact
After missing the last five games, Boqvist will return to action as a forward because Hudson Fasching (illness) is unavailable. Since being claimed off waivers from Florida on Jan. 31, the 24-year-old Boqvist has two goals, five points, 16 shots on net, five blocked shots and six hits in 12 appearances with the Islanders.

Not ready to return
Boqvist (upper body) isn't ready to rejoin the lineup for Saturday's game against Calgary, per Stefen Rosner of NHL.com.
Impact
It will be Boqvist's fifth straight game on the shelf. He has four goals and 11 points in 30 appearances between Florida and the Islanders in 2024-25. When healthy, Boqvist might serve on the third pairing.

Remains out Thursday
Boqvist (upper body) won't play Thursday versus the Canadiens, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Impact
Boqvist was also dealing with an illness Tuesday, though it's unclear if he's recovered from it yet. In any case, he won't be in Thursday's lineup, sitting out for the fourth straight game. The 24-year-old's next chance to play is Saturday versus the Flames.

Dealing with UBI and illness
Boqvist (upper body) is dealing with an illness, according to Andrew Gross of Newsday on Tuesday.
Impact
Boqvist seems unlikely to play Tuesday against the Penguins considering he's under the weather on top of dealing with an upper-body injury. Tony DeAngelo, Ryan Pulock and Scott Mayfield will round out the right side of New York's blue line if Boqvist is unable to suit up in Pittsburgh.

Won't play Sunday
Boqvist (upper body) won't be an option for Sunday's matchup versus Florida, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Impact
Boqvist will miss his second straight game, though he did participate in Sunday's morning skate. He is progressing but hasn't been cleared for contact yet. Boqvist has four goals, 11 points, 37 shots on net, 15 blocked shots and 11 hits through 30 appearances between the Panthers and Islanders this season. With Boqvist and Adam Pelech (lower body) unavailable, Scott Mayfield and Mike Reilly will play against the Panthers on Sunday.

Unavailable Friday
Boqvist (upper body) will not play Friday versus Edmonton, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Impact
Boqvist was injured Tuesday in Los Angeles, seeing only 7:51 of ice time. The defenseman has two goals and five points in 12 games with the Islanders after he was claimed off waivers from Florida on Jan. 31. Scott Mayfield is expected to rejoin the lineup after being a healthy scratch Tuesday.

Dealing with upper-body injury
Boqvist is reportedly dealing with an upper-body injury suffered against the Kings on Tuesday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Impact
There was no update regarding Boqvist's injury from the team Tuesday but it seems he suffered an upper-body injury. If the blueliner does need to miss any time, the Isles have several candidates that could step into the lineup, including Scott Perunovich, Scott Mayfield and Mike Reilly.

Hurt in Tuesday's game
Boqvist (undisclosed) won't return to Tuesday's game versus the Kings, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Impact
Boqvist was initially hurt on a hit in the second period. He stayed on the bench up until the intermission, but he did not come back out with the Islanders for the third period. If Boqvist can't play Friday against the Oilers, Scott Perunovich, Scott Mayfield or Mike Reilly would be options to replace him on the third defensive pairing.
