Impact Gibson has missed the first few weeks of the regular season while recovering from an appendectomy, but he appears to be closing in on a return. While it's not yet clear when he could be back in game action, it's encouraging that he'll travel with the team for the upcoming four-game road trip. Once Gibson is able to return, he'll likely compete with Lukas Dostal for the starting goaltender job.

Frank Vatrano - Absent from practice Vatrano didn't practice ahead of Tuesday's clash with the Sharks while awaiting the birth of his child, Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune reports.
Impact Vatrano hasn't found the back of the net in four games this season but did pick up helpers in each of his last two outings. If the 30-year-old winger isn't available against San Jose, the team may have to bring up a player from the minors unless Isac Lundestrom (upper body) is cleared to play.

Impact Strome has recorded points in three consecutive appearances, including goals in his last two outings. However, it's not yet clear whether he'll be available for Tuesday's game against the Sharks due to his illness. If he's sidelined, Brett Leason could see additional work for the Ducks.

Frank Vatrano - Picks up helper in return Vatrano logged an assist, two hits and two blocked shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Kings.
Impact Vatrano missed Friday's game versus the Avalanche while welcoming his child into the world. The winger was back in his familiar third-line role Sunday and earned an assist for the second game in a row. He's added six shots on net, six hits and five blocked shots over four appearances this season. Vatrano should continue to be a source of non-scoring production while playing on a checking line, and he's also seeing ice time in all situations.

Troy Terry - Records helper in loss Terry notched an assist and two shots on goal in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Kings.
Impact Terry picked up his first assist of the year and extended his point streak to four games after scoring in each of his last three outings. The 27-year-old set up a Ryan Strome tally late in the third period to prevent the Ducks from getting shut out. Terry has added 11 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating with four points over five contests this season.

Impact Strome ended David Rittich's shutout bid at 18:16 of the third period, but the Ducks' comeback ultimately fell short. This was Strome's second game in a row with a goal, and he's up to three points through five outings overall. The 31-year-old center has added 14 shots on net and a minus-2 rating while playing in a third-line role.

Lukas Dostal - Fades in third period Dostal allowed two goals on 35 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Kings. The last two goals were empty-netters.
Impact The final score doesn't do justice to Dostal's performance in keeping this game close for two-plus periods. The Ducks were able to get one goal back with Dostal on the bench, but the Kings responded with their two empty-netters to send the 24-year-old to his first regulation loss. He's allowed 10 goals on 144 shots while going 2-1-1 over four starts this season. The Ducks' defense still has obvious flaws, but Dostal's workload and performance make him particularly valuable in formats that reward saves or shots against. The Ducks' next game is Tuesday versus the Sharks.
