Moves to AHL affiliate Wahlberg was recalled from his loan with SHL Malmo and assigned to AHL Rochester on Saturday, per CapFriendly.

Impact Wahlberg had a meager 10 points over 43 contests with the Redhawks during this SHL season. The Swede will now get a taste of the AHL, where he could play in 2024-25 if he isn't loaned back to his native country.

Impact Wahlberg notched two goals and two assists in 17 games with the Redhawks last season. Buffalo selected the 18-year-old forward with the No. 39 pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Wahlberg signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Sabres in July.

Impact Wahlberg was chosen 39th overall in the 2023 Draft. The 18-year-old had a pair of goals and two assists in 17 games with Malmo of the Swedish League. The center also chipped in with three goals and six points in seven games at the U18 World Championship in the spring. Wahlberg likely won't light up the scoresheet, at the NHL level, but he is good enough to become a bottom-six forward for the Sabres in a few years.
