The 24-year-old made 45 regular-season appearances with the Ducks last year and logged two assists, 32 shots and 101 hits while averaging 12:11 of ice time.

Despite suiting up in more than half of Anaheim's games, the team opted not to give him a qualifying offer, allowing the 24-year-old center to become an unrestricted free agent. With the Rangers, Groulx could struggle for regular opportunities given the organizational depth at forward.

Not qualified by Ducks The Ducks did not qualify Groulx and he will become an unrestricted free agent Monday, Eric Stephens of The Athletic reports.

Playing time still unsteady Groulx has played in 11 of the Ducks' 17 games since the start of March.

Impact Groulx got an extended run in the lineup in the middle of the month, but he's been scratched five times over the last seven games from March 21 to April 2. The 24-year-old center didn't get on the scoresheet in March and is stuck in a 15-game point drought. For the season, he has a meager two assists with 31 shots on net, 95 hits and a minus-9 rating over 43 appearances.

Falls out of favor in February Groulx was scratched for the Ducks' last six games in February.

Impact Groulx saw semi-regular playing time in January, but that dried up with the Ducks getting closer to full health in February. Brett Leason has also emerged from a similar stint in the press box, though Groulx's grittier playing style fits in a bottom-six role better than Leason's. Groulx has just two assists with 27 shots on net, 66 hits and 23 blocked shots over 32 appearances this season, so he's not really an option in fantasy even if he can stick in the lineup.

MARCH 1 • ROTOWIRE

Could see more playing time Groulx was in the lineup for Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Hurricanes, recording two hits, a blocked shot and a minus-1 rating.

Impact There hasn't been a lot of room for Groulx this season, but he could get more playing time with Trevor Zegras (ankle) out 6-8 weeks. The 23-year-old Groulx hasn't gotten on the scoresheet since October 24, and he's been scratched for 18 of the 35 games since that contest in Columbus. He has one assist, 20 shots on net and 38 hits through 23 outings this season, and if he can fend off Ross Johnston for playing time, it'll likely be in a fourth-line role.

Impact Groulx was scratch in six of seven games from Oct. 26-Nov. 10, but he's sat out just twice since. Despite the more consistent playing time, he's not generating much offense while playing in the Ducks' bottom six. The 23-year-old has just one assist to go with 14 shots on net, 32 hits, 10 PIM and a minus-2 rating over 18 contests. He could lose his place in the lineup once Mason McTavish (upper body), Trevor Zegras (lower body) and Max Jones (upper body) return.

Impact The helper was Groulx's first point in six outings this season. The 23-year-old has handled a bottom-six job so far, averaging 12:40 of ice time per game. He's also picked up eight hits, three shots on goal and a plus-1 rating. He's been on the third line lately, and Groulx will likely have an extended look in that spot with Isac Lundestrom (Achilles) out until at least February.

Selected by the organization with the 54th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, Groulx will need a new contract in the offseason as a restricted free agent.
