ImpactZacha's placement on IR was likely made retroactive to Sunday. Even if that's the case, the 26-year-old pivot will be forced to miss Boston's next two games at a minimum. With Zacha, who's picked up eight goals and 19 points through 26 games this season, on the shelf, look for Morgan Geekie to have an expanded role in the short term.

ImpactMcAvoy was last in the lineup last Thursday, so this move is presumably retroactive to that date. If that's the case, he could technically be activated ahead of Friday's game against the Islanders, though Boston probably wouldn't have bothered putting him on IR unless the 25-year-old defenseman was expected to miss at least one more contest. McAvoy has three goals and 17 points in 21 outings this season.

Vitek Vanecek - Sharp in OT winVanecek made 23 saves in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime win over Boston.

ImpactMorgan Geekie beat him late in the first period after Vanecek couldn't control a rebound, but the 27-year-old netminder stoned the Bruins the rest of the way and got rewarded when Jack Hughes scored the OT winner. Vanecek has won four straight decisions despite a 3.06 GAA and .875 save percentage over that stretch, and he has yet to go more than two straight appearances this season without allowing at least three goals in a game. The Devils' offense will keep getting him wins, but Vanecek's fantasy value is otherwise sketchy.

Morgan Geekie - Supplies only offense in lossGeekie scored his third goal of the season in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Devils.

ImpactThe 25-year-old opened the scoring late in the first period by grabbing the rebound on a James van Riemsdyk shot and sweeping it around Vitek Vanecek, but it was all the offense Boston could muster on the night. Geekie has picked up his scoring pace a little since returning from an upper-body injury in late November, and over his last eight games he's delivered two goals and five points. Until he starts seeing consistent top-six minutes though, Geekie will be tough to rely on for fantasy purposes.

Jeremy Swayman - Falls to Jersey in OTSwayman turned aside 33 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Devils.

ImpactThe 25-year-old netminder took a shutout into the third period, but a couple bad bounces allowed Dawson Mercer to bat the puck out of midair past Swayman early in the final frame. Jack Hughes then didn't miss on a wicked shot from the faceoff circle midway through OT. Swayman still has only one regulation loss on the season, going 9-1-3 with a 2.07 GAA and .933 save percentage, but despite some recent struggles for Linus Ullmark, the Bruins aren't likely to deviate from their very successful timeshare in the crease.
