Impact Gignac accumulated 19 goals and 55 points over 61 regular-season contests for AHL Laval in 2023-24. He also earned one goal, seven shots on net, seven blocked shots and five hits in seven NHL outings with the Canadiens last campaign. Gignac will probably spend most of the upcoming season in the AHL.

Impact Gignac has a goal, seven shots, four hits and seven blocks in seven games with Montreal this season. He also had 14 goals and 42 points in 43 outings with AHL Laval.

Scores first NHL goal Gignac scored a goal on two shots over 10:50 of ice time in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Ducks.

Impact Gignac pocketed the first NHL goal in his fourth career game, finishing off a two-on-zero break with Kaiden Guhle for the Canadiens' final tally. He had been getting minutes on the second line and second power-play unit immediately upon his promotion from AHL Laval, but Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis has since moved him to the fourth line and off the power play. Perhaps those moves are designed to take pressure of Gignac, who was a productive scorer with the Rocket. He's expected to finish the season in Montreal, and in time, as Gignac becomes acclimated to the NHL games, he could play a greater role.

Impact Gignac made his NHL debut after signing a two-way contract with the Canadiens on Sunday. The 26-year-old centered the second line, flanked by J-Josh Anderson and Joel Armia, and won six of 12 draws. Gignac was a scoring machine at AHL Laval, logging 14 goals and 28 assists over 43 games with the Rocket. After Sean Monahan was dealt to Winnipeg over the All-Star break, there's an opening in the top-six. That Gignac is no longer on an AHL-only contract suggests he may finish out the season with the parent club.
