Signs overseas deal Lemieux agreed to terms on a three-year contract with Swiss club HC Davos on Monday.

Impact Lemieux likely has played his final NHL games after making a long-term commitment to the Swiss club following his release by the Hurricanes on Friday. As such, the winger will eventually retire having logged 307 games over seven seasons for the Jets, Rangers, Kings, Flyers and Hurricanes. In those appearances, Lemieux notched 36 goals and 38 helpers while racking up 548 PIM.

Placed on unconditional waivers The Hurricanes placed Lemieux on unconditional waivers Friday, for the purpose of terminating his contract, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Impact Lemieux has spent this season with AHL Chicago, scoring a pair of goals in 12 games. He had three goals, two assists and 64 PIM in 32 games with the Hurricanes in 2023-24. Lemieux spent seven seasons in the NHL, tallying 36 goals, 74 points and 548 PIM in 307 regular-season games.

Waived Wednesday Lemieux (undisclosed) was waived by Carolina on Wednesday, per James Mirtle of The Athletic.

Impact Lemieux would need to be ready to play in order to be placed on waivers, so he's presumably over his undisclosed injury. He missed the Hurricanes' opening two contests of 2024-25 because he was hurt. The 28-year-old forward had three goals, five points, 64 PIM and 71 hits in 32 regular-season outings with Carolina in 2023-24, but if he clears waivers, then Lemieux will probably head to the minors.

Battling injury Lemieux is dealing with an undisclosed injury and is "going to be out a while," coach Rod Brind'Amour told Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal on Wednesday.

Impact Lemieux recorded three goals, five points, 64 PIM and 71 hits in 32 regular-season games in 2023-24. He's not always in the lineup when he's healthy, but his absence does increase the chances of Jackson Blake, who was called up from AHL Chicago on Tuesday, seeing some work on the fourth line.

Rare two-point showing Lemieux notched a goal and an assist in Sunday's 7-2 win over Ottawa.

Impact Lemieux set up Dmitry Orlov on a breakaway for the opening goal midway through the first period before adding a tally of his own in the third, deflecting a Brent Burns shot to extend Carolina's lead to 7-2. It's the first multi-point effort of the season for Lemieux, whose last goal came on Nov. 28. He now has three goals and five points through 27 games this season while frequently serving as a healthy scratch -- a role he'll likely return to when Jack Drury (lower body) and Teuvo Teravainen (upper body) are both healthy.

Impact Lemieux has two goals, one assist, 55 PIM and 58 hits in 25 appearances with the Hurricanes this season. He has mostly served as a depth option this campaign, which will likely be the case again in 2024-25.

Impact Lemieux might have been waived just to give Carolina more roster flexibility ahead of Friday's trade deadline. However, given that he hasn't been in the lineup since Feb. 8, it also wouldn't be shocking to see the Hurricanes reassign him to the AHL. Lemieux has two goals, three points, 50 PIM and 53 hits in 23 outings with the Hurricanes this season.

Impact It was the third misconduct penalty of the season for Lemieux, racking up a combined 50 PIM in 23 games this year. Offensively, the 27-year-old winger has tallied just two goals and one assist while averaging 7:41 of ice time. As a result, Lemieux figures to remain a relative non-factor in fantasy contests.

Impact Lemieux typically serves more of a physical presence in the lineup when needed, and that hasn't been often so far this season. This should come as no surprise, as he has never skated a full 82-game slate in the NHL in his career. Needless to say, he shouldn't be on anyone's fantasy radar right now.

Saturday was his season debut -- the 27-year-old remains on the fringe of the Hurricanes' roster. They're only carrying one additional skater, so Lemieux appears to be in competition with defenseman Jalen Chatfield for playing time, and it may come down to what kind of lineup head coach Rod Brind'Amour prefers from game to game.
