Jacob Bryson - Provides helper in win Bryson provided an assist that held up as the game-winner in Friday's 2-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Impact Bryson danced around the blue line and fed Connor Clifton for his partner's first goal with the Sabres. The former continues to hold down the fort while Owen Power (hand) remains on injured reserve, with Bryson's running total consisting of three assists, five hits and 14 blocked shots through 11 games. At least in terms of assists and points, the 26-year-old has that same output with AHL Rochester this season.

Impact Benson is showing flashes of his potential as the 13th overall pick from the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-9 prospect has six goals and 11 assists through 46 games and 14:50 of average ice time, but expectations should be tempered as he's just 18 years old and trying to prove he belongs after making the grand leap from the WHL directly to hockey's highest level of competition.

Connor Clifton - Pots game-winner Friday Clifton scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 2-1 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Impact It was the 28-year-old defender's first goal in nearly a calendar year and first in a Sabres jersey, and it was also his first career GWG. Clifton snapped a 16-game point drought with the tally, but offense has never been a big part of his game. He's been a solid stay-at-home addition to Buffalo's blue line this season, racking up 141 hits, 79 blocked shots and 60 PIM in 54 contests with a plus-6 rating while also chipping in 12 points.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen - Sharp in Columbus Luukkonen made 25 saves in Friday's 2-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Impact Dmitri Voronkov got a puck past him on a Columbus power play midway through the first period, but otherwise Luukkonen shut down the home squad's offense. The 24-year-old netminder has allowed two goals or less in 11 of 15 starts since rising to the top of Buffalo's depth chart in early January, going 9-6-0 over that stretch with a stellar 1.75 GAA and .936 save percentage.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen - Tending twine Friday Luukkonen will get the starting nod in Columbus on Friday, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.
Impact Luukkonen has won three of his last four starts while allowing just eight goals on 110 shots during that span. He's started six of Buffalo's seven games since returning from the All-Star break while registering a .919 save percentage. On the year, he's 15-14-2 with a 2.52 GAA and a .911 save percentage.

Erik Johnson - Not playing Friday Coach Don Granato said that Johnson (illness) will not be in the lineup Friday in Columbus.
Impact Johnson will likely be replaced by Ryan Johnson on the third pairing, as Owen Power is still sidelined with a hand injury. Look for The Sabres have had a bug going through the team with Victor Olofsson and Eric Comrie also feeling the effects of the illness. Johnson has three goals in 48 games this season.

The veteran defenseman is playing his first season with the Sabres after playing the last 13 years with the Avalanche. Should Johnson not be available, look for Ryan Johnson to replace him on the third unit, as Owen Power (hand) is likely to miss his sixth consecutive game.

Alex Tuch - Fires home shorthanded winner Tuch scored the game-winning goal while the Sabres were shorthanded in Wednesday's 3-2 victory over the Canadiens.
Impact With less than two minutes left in the second period, Tuch jumped on a loose puck in the neutral zone and turned on the jets for a breakaway before snapping a shot past Sam Montembeault. The 27-year-old winger has trouble building much momentum early in the season, but since the calendar flipped to 2024 Tuch has been a consistent contributor, racking up seven goals and 14 points in 18 games.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen - Notches win in Montreal Luukkonen turned aside 29 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Canadiens.
Impact Montreal grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first period but Buffalo emerged from the second with a 3-2 lead, and Luukkonen made it hold up. He hasn't been quite as sharp in February as he was in January, but he still sports a 2.19 GAA and .922 save percentage over his last six starts despite a lackluster 3-3-0 record.
