Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen - Slated to start Luukkonen is on track to start on the road Saturday against the Wild, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.
Impact Luukkonen missed Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Panthers with a lower-body issue, but whatever held him out of that contest evidently wasn't overly serious. The 24-year-old netminder was unbeatable in his last start Tuesday against the Kings, turning aside all 33 shots he faced en route to a 7-0 shutout victory. He'll try to secure his 14th win of the season in a road matchup with a surging Minnesota team that's won four straight contests.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen - Available Saturday Luukkonen (lower body) is expected to be fit enough to be in the lineup against Minnesota on Saturday, Joe Yerdon of Bleacher Report reports.
Impact Luukkonen almost certainly will get the starting nod if he is healthy but coach Don Granato didn't go so far as to confirm the Finn would be between the crease. The 24-year-old backstop has been struggling for victories of late, going 2-4-0 in his last six contests despite a solid 2.04 GAA and .927 save percentage.

Eric Comrie - Flops against Florida Comrie stopped 27 of 30 shots in Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Panthers, with Florida's fourth goal getting scored into an empty net.
Impact Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (lower body) was a late scratch, and the discombobulated Sabres didn't give Comrie much help as he took over between the pipes. It was his first NHL start since Dec. 5, and the 28-year-old netminder has a 3.87 GAA and .869 save percentage in eight outings for Buffalo this season, but if Luukkonen ends up missing more time Comrie could find himself in the No. 1 role -- the team elected to bypass Devon Levi for Dustin Tokarski when it summoned a backup from AHL Rochester on Thursday.

Impact Tokarski's demotion should be an indication that the team expects Ukka-Pekka Luukkonen (lower body) to at least be available to serve as the backup against the Wild on Saturday. The 34-year-old Tokarski has played in just four NHL games over the last two seasons and figures to remain the Sabres' emergency option the rest of the way.

He's been held off the scoresheet only five times in 14 games since the beginning of January, racking up four goals and 12 points over that stretch, and he sits one goal shy of tying the career-high 15 he notched in 2022-23.

Impact It's the first three-point performance of the season for Greenway, but the 27-year-old has found a bit of a spark of late. Greenway has a spot on Buffalo's second power-play unit and is skating with talented linemates at even strength in Alex Tuch and Casey Mittelstadt, so his current form may not be a flash in the pan.

Impact The 24-year-old has been one of the NHL's top netminders since the calendar flipped to 2024. Three of Luukkonen's four shutouts on the season have come in his last eight starts, and over his last 11 outings he sports a 1.57 GAA and .944 save percentage. A lack of consistent goal support has also left him with a 6-5-0 record during that time, but the Sabres' offense might be waking up, having scored at least five goals in three of the team's last five contests.
