Impact Luukkonen hasn't won a game since Nov. 27 -- he's 0-5-1 in his last six contests. And he's allowed four or more goals in four of those six. The Sabres were supposed to be one of the East's rising teams this season, but they're at the bottom of the conference, ahead of only Ottawa. It's not all on Luukkonen or on any of the Sabres twinetenders. They're all at the mercy of the rest of the their team. Keep your Buffalo netminders on the bench.

Rasmus Dahlin - Man of many records Dahlin scored a goal in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Rangers on Saturday.
Impact Dahlin became the first defenseman this season to reach 10 goals. He's done it three straight seasons, which ties him for the second-longest streak in Sabres history. Dahlin has a long way to go to equal the best -- the great Phil Housley had eight from 1982-90. But if anyone can do it, he can. Oh yah -- the goal was also Dahlin's 56th of his career, which moved him into fourth among defenders in Sabres history. There's a Norris in his future.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen - Set to face Rangers Luukkonen is slated to start on the road against the Rangers on Saturday, per Colin Stephenson of Newsday.
Impact Luukkonen has lost his last five contests while surrendering 20 goals on 116 shots (.828 save percentage). That's pushed him down to a 6-8-1 record, 3.17 GAA and .893 save percentage in 16 outings this year. The Rangers lead the Metropolitan Division with a 22-8-1 record, so it'll be difficult for Luukkonen to end his losing streak against them. New York ranks 13th offensively this campaign with 3.32 goals per game.

Jiri Kulich - Joining Czech WJC team Kulich was reassigned to the Czech World Junior team Friday.
Impact Kulich will link up with the Czech squad for the 2024 World Junior Championship. The 19-year-old center has racked up 16 goals and six assists in 23 games for AHL Rochester this season and could be in line for a call-up to the NHL team once his international commitments are fulfilled.

Connor Clifton - Big night against Toronto Clifton picked up two assists while adding four hits, two shots on net, a blocked shot and a plus-5 rating in Thursday's 9-3 rout of the Maple Leafs.
Impact The former Bruin hadn't been in the black in plus-minus all season until Thursday, when he erased a minus-4 mark in one fell swoop. Clifton has been a multi-category monster of late, producing seven assists, 15 hits, 11 blocked shots, six shots on goal, five PIM and a plus-8 rating over the last eight games, but the stay-at-home blueliner doesn't see power-play time and is tough to roster in fantasy formats that focus only on points.

Alex Tuch - Four helpers in Thursday's rout Tuch notched four assists, one on the power play, in Thursday's 9-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Impact Buffalo's top line of Tuch, Tage Thompson and Jeff Skinner nearly downed Toronto on their own, combining for three goals and 10 points on the night. All three of them have missed time in December, with Tuch sitting for four games due to a lower-body injury, but now that the unit is fully healthy it could be prepared to erupt. Through 27 games on the season, Tuch has nine goals and 24 points.

Tage Thompson - Three-point effort Thursday Thompson scored an even-strength goal on five shots while adding two assists, one on the power play, in Thursday's 9-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Impact All his points came in the final two frames as the Sabres blew open what had been a 3-2 game after the first period. Buffalo's top line of Thompson, Alex Tuch and Jeff Skinner combined for three goals and 10 points on the night, but the multi-point performance was Thompson's first in nine games since he made his return from an upper-body injury. On the season, the 26-year-old center has nine goals and 19 points in 25 games -- somewhat disappointing numbers after his 2022-23 breakout, but Thompson has proven he can heat up in a hurry.

Impact Returning from a three-game absence due to an upper-body injury, the veteran winger immediately put together his most productive night of the season. The Sabres' top line of Skinner, Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch accounted for three goals and 10 points in total, and on the season Skinner has 14 goals and 25 points in 31 contests as he looks to reach the 30-goal plateau for the third straight campaign and the seventh time in his career.

Impact His shortie midway through the second period on a breakaway from Buffalo's blue line gave the Sabres a 6-3 lead and seemed to break Toronto's spirit. Okposo then snapped home another goal in the third for the final tally of the night. The veteran winger began the season with a 19-game goal drought but he's come to life since then, racking up eight goals and 11 points in the last 15 contests while seeing time on both the penalty kill and the second power-play unit.

Devon Levi - Cruises to win over Toronto Levi made 24 saves in Thursday's 9-3 rout of the Maple Leafs.
Impact The 21-year-old netminder wasn't all that sharp, but he didn't need to be on a night when the ice was tilted so heavily in the Sabres' favor, and the win was a confidence-builder after Levi got the hook in the team's last game against the Blue Jackets. Levi hasn't taken a regulation loss since Nov. 14, going 4-0-2 over his last eight appearances with a 2.88 GAA and .903 save percentage, and the youngster may be settling in to the No. 1 role in the crease.

Owen Power - Incredibly efficient against Toronto Power scored to complement a plus-5 rating in Thursday's 9-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Impact The Sabers permitted nine goals with Power skating to a minus-4 rating in the previous tilt against the Blue Jackets, so his fantasy managers must have been thrilled to see him get back on the horse. Power, who's in his second full NHL season, hit an 11-game pointless skid before snapping out of it with his goal against the Leafs. He has two goals, 11 assists -- including two on the power play -- and 54 blocked shots through 34 contests.

Ryan Johnson - Snags helper in big win Johnson notched an assist and skated to a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 9-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Impact Johnson assisted on Buffalo's ninth goal of the game, and it also led to his second career point. Taken in the first round (No. 31 overall) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Johnson is averaging exactly 14 minutes of ice time through 18 contests. He needs more time to grow his game to be relevant in fantasy circles, but he capitalized on an opportunity Thursday, while fellow blueliner Henri Jokiharju looked on from the press box.
