Connor Murphy - Collects assist in lossMurphy notched an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres.
ImpactMurphy earned his first point of the year on the second of Craig Smith's two goals in the game. The 31-year-old Murphy doesn't often put up much offense, instead adding mostly physical production, though he had no hits or blocked shots Saturday. The veteran blueliner has seven hits, 14 blocks, 11 PIM, seven shots on net and a minus-1 rating through six outings this season. Over the last 10 campaigns, he's reached 100 hits in all 10 years and fell short of 100 blocks just once in that span. Murphy has never produced a 20-point campaign.

Seth Jones - Logs helper in lossJones posted an assist, five shots on goal and two PIM in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres.
ImpactJones continues to be one of the Blackhawks' better players. He has a goal and five assists over six contests, with his latest point being a secondary helper on the first of Craig Smith's two goals Saturday. Jones has added 21 shots on net, nine blocked shots, four PIM and a minus-1 rating while playing in a top-pairing role with a spot on the first power-play unit. The 30-year-old will struggle to live up to his $9.5 million cap hit, but fantasy managers can be happy if he approaches a 50-point pace while adding plenty of shots, hits and blocks without being too much of an anchor on the plus-minus rating.

Lukas Reichel - Dishes two assistsReichel notched two assists and four shots on goal in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres.
ImpactThe 22-year-old winger set up both of Craig Smith's tallies in this contest. Reichel was scratched for the first four games of the year and has been stuck on the fourth line for the last two contests. While it's good that he's playing, limited ice time in the NHL on a rebuilding team isn't necessarily a positive for a player that would likely benefit from more development in the AHL. He had just 16 points in 65 contests a year ago, though that mostly came from seeing middle-six minutes.

Craig Smith - Scores both goals in lossSmith scored twice on five shots and added four hits in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres.
ImpactSmith's goals were separated by 6:20 in the middle of the second period. The 35-year-old winger has been a part-time option for the Blackhawks this season, but he was in the lineup for a third straight game due to the absences of Joey Anderson (illness) and Patrick Maroon (lower body). Smith had 20 points in 75 regular-season outings in a similar bottom-six role with the Stars last year, though the Blackhawks' offense is not nearly as deep or productive, so it wouldn't be surprising to see his scoring drop in 2024-25.

Arvid Soderblom - Gives up three goals SaturdaySoderblom gave up three goals on 21 shots in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
ImpactSoderblom gave up a pair of goals in the first period, and John-Jason Peterka netted the game-winner at 18:37 of the second period. The 25-year-old Soderblom has given up five goals on 56 shots over his two appearances this year, but he has gone 0-1-1 so far. Petr Mrazek has done alright in the No. 1 role, so Soderblom likely won't be asked to play more than once a week, and he could be off the NHL roster altogether once Laurent Brossoit (knee) is ready to play.
