Nick DeSimone - Bags apple in shootout loss DeSimone produced an assist in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact DeSimone snapped a four-game point drought with the helper. The 28-year-old has fared well in limited minutes, racking up four assists, six shots on net, six blocked shots, five hits and an even plus-minus rating over seven appearances since he replaced Jordan Oesterle on the roster. DeSimone is unlikely to see more than a third-pairing role given the talent on the Flames' blue line.

Noah Hanifin - Contributes helper Saturday Hanifin posted an assist, two shots on goal, two blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact Hanifin opened the season with four helpers over three games, but he hadn't registered an assist in his last 13 contests. That changed with his primary apple of Yegor Sharangovich's third-period equalizer. Hanifin is up to eight points, 28 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 17 outings. His penalty Saturday was his first of the campaign, which is solid discipline for a minutes-eating defenseman.

Jonathan Huberdeau - Draws helper in shootout loss Huberdeau recorded an assist, five shots on goal and two PIM in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact Huberdeau got on the scoresheet in consecutive games for the first time since the first two contests of the season. He's fit better on the third line with Mikael Backlund and Blake Coleman than he has in any other spot so far. Huberdeau has three goals, seven assists, 28 shots on net, six PIM and a minus-11 rating through 17 appearances.

Elias Lindholm - Provides helper Saturday Lindholm logged an assist, two hits and two blocked shots in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact Lindholm has four points over his last two games since he snapped a five-game dry spell. The center helped out on Yegor Sharangovich's third-period tally. Lindholm is up to 12 points, 43 shots on net, 13 hits and an even plus-minus rating through 17 outings. He's had a middling start to the campaign, but fantasy managers would be wise to exercise patience with the 28-year-old -- he's got a solid history of playing at or above a 60-point pace.

Yegor Sharangovich - Buries goal in shootout loss Sharangovich scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact Sharangovich snapped a four-game point drought with the tally. Despite finding twine Saturday, he saw just 9:48 of ice time, his second-lowest mark of the season. The 25-year-old is up to three goals, six points, 28 shots on net and a minus-6 rating through 17 contests. He's bounced around the lineup, but with head coach Ryan Huska pausing the musical chairs routine with his lines, Sharangovich appears to be stuck in a fourth-line role.

Blake Coleman - Produces goal Saturday Coleman scored a goal on three shots and blocked two shots in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact Coleman continued a strong run of play that includes three goals, three assists and a plus-6 rating over his last six contests. The 31-year-old is up to five tallies, nine points, 42 shots on net, 15 hits, 14 blocked shots, 18 PIM and a plus-6 rating through 17 games overall. Coleman and Mikael Backlund continue to work well together, and they've provided a small spark to get Jonathan Huberdeau back on track since the winger was added to their line.

MacKenzie Weegar - Goals in back-to-back games Weegar scored a goal on four shots, doled out five hits and blocked two shots in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact Weegar has scored in each of the last two games. The defenseman's tally Saturday tied the game at 3-3 in the third period. Weegar already has four goals on the year, matching his total from 2022-23. He's at eight points, 45 shots on net, 41 blocked shots, 24 hits and a plus-1 rating over 17 appearances in a top-four role.

Martin Pospisil - Scores again in shootout loss Pospisil scored a goal on six shots, added three hits and went plus-2 in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact Pospisil has gotten on the scoresheet in five of his seven NHL games so far. He opened the scoring at 12:16 of the first period in Saturday's contest. The 24-year-old is up to three goals, two assists, 21 shots on net, 22 hits and a plus-7 rating. The Flames have stabilized their lines a bit, with Pospisil landing alongside Nazem Kadri and Connor Zary on the second line.

Connor Zary - Fantastic since debut Zary had two assists Saturday in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact Zary has eight points, including five helpers, in his first eight games. Since his Nov. 1 debut, he has put up the same number of points as Hawks rookie pivot and phenom, Connor Bedard (five goals, three assists in six games). Zary had an excellent AHL season last year (57 points; 72 games) and has really clicked with line mate Nazem Kadri. It will be hard for him to sustain this level of play, but the talent is real.

Jacob Markstrom - Game showing improvement Markstrom made 29 saves in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders on Saturday.
Impact Markstrom had won three consecutive games before Saturday. He may have been the best Flames player on the ice, making several 10 bell saves that allowed his team to ultimately tie the game and force overtime. Overall, Markstrom has a 2.75 GAA and .903 save percentage.

Nazem Kadri - Heating up Kadri delivered two assists in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders on Saturday.
Impact His first helper was a beauty. He banked the puck hard off the right boards at a perfect angle for Martin Pospisil to pick up in stride, cut hard to the net and hold the puck until he roofed it over Ilya Sorokin. Kadri is heating up and has 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in his last nine games (31 shots). He may still be on the wire.
