Impact Fitzgerald compiled four goals and 21 points in 69 contests for AHL Hartford during the 2023-24 regular season. The 27-year-old blueliner will probably spend most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign at the minor-league level.

Signs two-year deal Fitzgerald secured a two-year, $1.55 million contract with the Rangers on Tuesday.

Impact Fitzgerald saw action in 69 regular-season contests with AHL Charlotte last season in which he tallied four goals and 17 assists. Despite the decent production, the 27-year-old defenseman was unable to break his way into the NHL, having last played at the top level back in 2022-23 when with the Panthers. Given New York's forward depth, Fitzgerald will likely face an uphill battle in securing minutes at the NHL level.

Added to waivers Fitzgerald was waived by the Panthers on Sunday, per Chris Johnston of TSN.

Impact Fitzgerald resigned with Florida in the offseason after tallying three assists in 27 games between the Panthers and Sabres last year. If he clears waivers, the 26-year-old Fitzgerald will open the 2023-24 campaign with AHL Charlotte.

Impact Fitzgerald contributed three assists, 13 shots on goal, 12 blocked shots and 35 hits in 27 games between Buffalo and Florida last season. He only suited up in four contests with the Panthers after being claimed off waivers from the Sabres on Jan. 11. If he isn't assigned to the minors, Fitzgerald is likely to be used sparingly by Florida again in 2023-24.
