Impact He wasn't exactly busy, as Anaheim didn't manage more than six shots in any period, but Primeau still handled everything fired his way to collect his first career shutout. It was also his first win since Dec. 22, as the 24-year-old continues to see sporadic action behind Sam Montembeault and Jake Allen. Should Allen get shipped out by the trade deadline, Primeau would see more consistent action, but his 3.07 GAA and .903 save percentage on the season don't promise big fantasy returns.

Impact Primeau will garner his second start in the last 10 games as the Canadiens are going with three goaltenders -- Samuel Montembeault and Jake Allen are the others -- at this time. Primeau was sharp versus the Flyers on Jan. 10, stopping 37 shots in a 3-2 shootout loss. Primeau is 4-4-1 with a 3.13 GAA and a .905 save percentage in 2023-24. The Senators are averaging 33.1 shots on goal per game, eighth in the league.

Impact Primeau made some ridiculous saves in the win. So much so that he's now on a very short list of Habs' netminders with the most saves with two goals against or fewer in a road win since 1956. He's knotted with Mathieu Garon (2004) and Jaroslav Halak (2x; 2009) with 46, and he's behind only Jocelyn Thibault (49; 1996), Ken Dryden (47; 1971) and Halak (47; 2009). Primeau flat-out stole the game for Montreal, and it was quite the spring forward contest for him after losing 5-1 to Florida on Nov. 30.

Impact Mike Hoffman beat him at 5:06 of the second frame with a shot from the left hash marks following a feed from William Eklund from behind the Habs' net. Primeau has won twice in three starts in November, and he's showing glimpses of what he could become, as long as the Habs allow his development to simmer.
