Slated to start Wednesday Blackwood is expected to get the starting nod at home versus Winnipeg on Wednesday, Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports reports.

Impact Blackwood has featured in 14 of the Avs' last 17 contests, posting a 9-4-1 record to go with an impressive 1.97 GAA. Given his heavy workload thus far, the 28-year-old netminder should be expected to be in the crease more often than not -- though an upcoming back-to-back versus the Bruins and Rangers on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, should give Blackwood a night off in favor of Scott Wedgewood.

Up from minors Ivan was recalled from AHL Colorado on Wednesday.

Impact Ivan has five goals and eight points in 39 appearances with the Avalanche in 2024-25. He also has a goal and an assist in two outings with AHL Colorado. The Avalanche just have 12 healthy forwards on their roster after recalling Ivan and Jere Innala, so both will probably be in the lineup for Wednesday's tilt against Winnipeg.

Impact Innala figures to be immediately pressed back into service versus the Jets on Wednesday. Despite having played in 14 games for the Avs this year, the 26-year-old winger has yet to write his name on the scoresheet while registering a meager four shots in those 14 contests. With Valeri Nichushkin (lower body) suffering a setback in his recovery, Innala could continue to bounce back and further between the levels.

Suffers setback Nichushkin (lower body) is back to being considered week-to-week after suffering a setback, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports Wednesday.

Impact Nichushkin did appear to be getting close to returning before this setback. He has 11 goals and 17 points in 21 appearances in 2024-25. Nichushkin hasn't been in the lineup since Dec. 31, but when he is healthy, he serves in a top-six capacity and features on the first power-play unit.

Impact Although Blackwood has been largely successful since joining the Avalanche, he was charged with a second consecutive loss Monday as he wasn't particularly sharp against Minnesota. The 28-year-old has allowed seven goals on 50 shots (.860 save percentage) over his last two starts, and it certainly seems possible that the Avalanche will give him a breather Wednesday against the Jets in order to regroup. If Blackwood sits Wednesday, Scott Wedgewood would presumably draw the start.
