Ross Colton - Another two-goal game Colton scored twice on four shots and added two hits in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.
Impact Colton scored twice for the second game in a row. He opened the scoring with a power-play marker and added another at even strength about 10 minutes later. The 28-year-old has six goals, one assist, 22 shots on net, 20 hits and a minus-2 rating through six contests. He's thriving in a top-line role alongside Nathan MacKinnon, and Colton has a good chance to stay in that spot until the Avalanche get some injured forwards back.

Justus Annunen - Allows one goal in win Annunen stopped 25 of 26 shots in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.
Impact Annunen made his first start of the season after appearing in relief in the first two games of the year. The 24-year-old had little trouble with the Sharks, allowing just a William Eklund power-play goal in the first period. Annunen has given up five goals on 43 shots over his three appearances, going 1-1-0. The Avalanche's slow start is well-documented, but each of Annunen and Alexandar Georgiev have won their most recent outing. The Avalanche visit the Kraken on Tuesday.

Justus Annunen - Draws start Sunday Annunen will be in the blue paint for Sunday's road contest against the Sharks, according to Max Miller of NHL.com.
Impact Annunen will make his first start of the 2024-25 campaign, though he's appeared in two contests in relief of Alexandar Georgiev. Annunen will face a San Jose club that is averaging 2.20 goals for per game over five outings.

Impact Toews has missed the last three games and isn't expected to play against San Jose on Sunday. Still, he was slated to travel with the Avalanche on the team's three-game road trip and made progress in Saturday's practice, suggesting he might return soon. Toews has one assist, three shots on net and three blocked shots through two appearances this season. Calvin de Haan and Oliver Kylington have been getting playing time during Toews' absence.

Impact Kahkonen, who was claimed off waivers from Winnipeg 10 days ago, could get into a lineup at some point during Colorado's three-game road trip, which kicks off Sunday night in San Jose. It's no secret the Avs are getting subpar goaltending from Alexandar Georgiev and back up Justus Annunen. Colorado ranks last in the NHL with 5.60 goals allowed per game, one more goal per game than the nearest team, the equally disappointing Predators.

Devon Toews - Not expected to play Sunday Toews (lower body) isn't expected to play in Sunday's road game against San Jose, per Ryan Boulding of NHL.com on Saturday.
Impact Toews will travel with the Avalanche on their upcoming road trip, which includes clashes in Seattle on Tuesday and Utah on Thursday in addition to Sunday's game, so even though he's not quite ready to return, the defenseman does seem to be close. When Toews is healthy, he will likely play on the top pairing alongside Cale Makar. Samuel Girard is projected to be paired with Makar on Sunday.

Impact Kahkonen has arrived in Denver after settling his work visa issue. Colorado claimed the 28-year-old netminder off waivers from Winnipeg on Oct. 11. He could get a chance to see playing time soon because of the struggles of Alexandar Georgiev and Justus Annunen this season.

Valeri Nichushkin - Arrives in Denver Nichushkin (suspension) is in Denver and to work out and skate on his own, the Avalanche announced Saturday.
Impact Nichushkin is in Stage 3 of the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program and is not eligible to apply for reinstatement before Nov. 15. Nichushkin was outstanding in 2023-24, picking up 28 goals and 53 points in 54 regular-season appearances. He will be a top-six forward upon his return.
