Elvis Merzlikins - Set to start Wednesday Merzlikins is expected to start in Wednesday's home game against the Islanders, per Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers.
Impact Merzlikins is getting the opportunity to start in consecutive games after stopping 31 of 32 shots en route to a 6-1 victory over Edmonton on Monday. He's in a good position to build off that recent success against the Islanders, who are tied for 30th offensively with just 2.33 goals per game. Impact Chinakhov spent a couple of games on the second line without much success, but he was reunited with Kirill Marchenko and Sean Monahan on the top line Monday. Through eight outings, Chinakhov has three goals, five assists, three power-play points, 22 shots on net, 12 hits and a plus-5 rating. The Blue Jackets have been more productive than expected early on, and the 23-year-old's success on the top line is a noticeable part of that.

Impact Marchenko had a hand in both of Sean Monahan's goals in the game, including the opening power-play tally 2:18 into the contest. His scoring rate will obviously drop, but his physical playing style gives him multiple ways to contribute for fantasy managers in deep formats.

Impact Fantilli also saw just 10:37 of ice time over 18 shifts. There wasn't a reported injury after the game, so this was likely an in-game rest after a job well done. Monday marked his first multi-point effort of the season, and he's up to three goals, two assists, 22 shots on net, eight hits, eight blocked shots and a plus-1 rating across eight appearances.

Impact Stationed on the second line with Adam Fantilli and Cole Sillinger, Pyyhtia banged home Columbus' fourth tally of the night late in the third period. It was Pyyhtia's first career NHL goal in his 27th game, and his first point of the season. The 2020 fourth-round pick appears to have earned the trust of new coach Dean Evason, and if he remains on a line with two talented teammates -- Fantilli and Sillinger were both top-12 picks in their respective draft years -- Pyyhtia could begin to accumulate some offense of his own.

Impact It was the first multi-point performance of the season for the 21-year-old. Sillinger has moved into a prominent role for Columbus, skating on the second line with Adam Fantilli at even strength while also working on the top power-play unit, and the assignment is beginning to lead to production. Sillinger was the 12th overall pick in the 2021 Draft, and he may be coming into his own.
