Impact Christiansen found Kent Johnson for the Blue Jackets' second goal in the first period. The 25-year-old Christiansen is attempting to establish himself in a bottom-four role this season. Over the previous three years, he's logged a goal and six assists over 44 appearances. He has limited offensive upside and doesn't make up for it with extra physicality, so he's not a player most fantasy managers need to follow.

Impact Severson set up Kirill Marchenko's go-ahead goal in the second period. This was Severson's second assist in as many games, and he's added four shots on net, four blocked shots and a plus-2 rating while playing on the second pairing. He's topped the 30-point mark five times in his career, so he's a fairly safe option as a depth defenseman in fantasy.

Impact Fantilli celebrated his 20th birthday with a second-period goal, his first point in two games this season. He's started the season as the Blue Jackets' second-line center, a role that should allow him to build on the 27-point rookie season he produced in 49 games in 2023-24. Fantasy managers in dynasty formats should already have Fantilli, but he could play his way into the redraft picture in 2024-25.

Impact Johnson stretched the Blue Jackets' lead to 2-0 in the first period. The 21-year-old has two goals, one assist and six shots on net over the first two games of the year. More impressively, he led all Columbus forwards with 21:30 of ice time despite beginning the game in a third-line role. He's poised for a breakout campaign after being limited to 16 points in 42 contests in 2023-24. He had a 40-point rookie year in 2022-23, and if he finds his way into a top-six role, he'll have a good chance of pushing past that mark.

Impact Werenski opened the scoring at 6:38 of the first period with his second goal in as many games to begin the year. The 27-year-old blueliners has added 10 shots on net while seeing big minutes on the Blue Jackets' top pairing. When healthy, Werenski's offense operates at the level of very good, though he's often a step below the league's elite defensemen. He'll be a fixture on Columbus' first power-play unit in 2024-25.

Impact Tarasov will make his season debut after Elvis Merzlikins gave up three goals on 26 shots in a 3-2 loss to Minnesota on Thursday to open the year. Last campaign, the 25-year-old Tarasov made 45 saves in a 4-1 win over Colorado on April 1.
