Adam Boqvist - Exits Thursday's game Boqvist sustained an upper-body injury and won't return to Thursday's game versus the Senators, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
Impact Boqvist was hurt on a hit in the first period and ruled out prior to the first intermission, which is not encouraging. The 23-year-old defenseman has already missed significant time with upper-body and shoulder injuries this season and in his career. The Blue Jackets' next game is Saturday versus the Sharks, but it's safe to assume the team won't rush Boqvist back given its poor position in the standings.

Yegor Chinakhov - Out Thursday Chinakhov (upper body) will be out Thursday when the Jackets host the Senators, per Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site.
Impact Chinakhov has been solid for Columbus this year, recording 16 goals and 13 assists in 53 games played. The 23-year-old will look to avoid injuries as he's dealt with one in all three years he's been in the league. He will look to sharpen his game in the last 17 games for Columbus.

Elvis Merzlikins - Starting Thursday Merzlikins will be between the home pipes versus Ottawa on Thursday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
Impact Merzlikins started Tuesday in Montreal, but was pulled after giving up three goals on four shots, just 5:48 into the first period. Merzlikins is 12-14-7 with a 3.29 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 2023-24. Merzlikins will face the Senators, who are averaging 32.3 shots, ninth in the NHL.

Impact Kuraly has nine goals, 17 points, 38 PIM and 146 hits in 57 appearances in 2023-24. His exit from the lineup corresponds with the expected return of Kirill Marchenko (illness) for Thursday's game against Ottawa.

Daniil Tarasov - Perfect in relief Tuesday Tarasov stopped all 19 shots he faced after replacing Elvis Merzlikins early in the first period of Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Canadiens.
Impact Columbus looked like they'd stayed on the plane, coming out completely flat and hanging Merzlikins out to dry to begin the game. The Jackets' defensive effort picked up after Tarasov took over, but their offense never woke up. The 24-year-old netminder appears to have taken a firm hold of the top job for the team, allowing three goals or less in seven straight outings while posting a 2.09 GAA and .941 save percentage.

Elvis Merzlikins - Gets quick hook in Montreal Merzlikins stopped only one of four shots before being replaced by Daniil Tarasov early in the first period during Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Canadiens.
Impact The Blue Jackets came out completely flat, and Merzlikins couldn't be faulted on any of the three pucks that beat him -- two came on deflections, and the third was scored on a Montreal power play. Nonetheless, the 29-year-old netminder got the hook less than six minutes into the game as coach Pascal Vincent tried to wake up his club. Merzlikins hadn't started a game since Mar. 2 prior to Tuesday as Columbus takes a longer look at Tarasov, and given the latter's perfect performance in relief, that workload split doesn't seem likely to change much. In eight outings since the All-Star break, Merzlikins is 3-4-0 with a 3.61 GAA and .892 save percentage.
