ImpactThe rookie netminder was busy but not exactly challenged, and Vegas scored four goals in a little over six minutes during the second period to put the game out of reach. Patera has won his first two NHL starts, stopping 65 of 70 shots, but it's not clear how long he might stick around as Jonathan Quick's backup -- Adin Hill (lower body) has an uncertain return date, while Logan Thompson (lower body) has just begun skating again.

ImpactHe lit the lamp twice in the second period and once in the third to record his fourth career hat trick, and his second of the season. Eichel snapped a seven-game goal drought with the performance, but he's been far from quiet lately -- over his last 18 games, he's piled up 11 goals and 20 points. On the season, the 26-year-old has 26 goals and 54 points in 57 contests.

ImpactThe second frame was a disaster for Columbus, as Vegas scored four goals in just over six minutes to drive Tarasov from the crease, although the collapse was a total team effort. The Blue Jackets have the fewest points in the league and are angling to have the best odds of landing Connor Bedard in the 2023 NHL Draft. They haven't given Tarasov much help since his latest promotion -- the 23-year-old netminder is 1-3-0 in four appearances with a 4.94 GAA and .862 save percentage in that span.

ImpactThe 22-year-old winger helped set up Phil Kessel in the first period for a tap-in goal. Dorofeyev then potted a slick tally himself from in close in the second, taking the puck out of the corner and shifting from backhand to forehand as he glided toward the front of the net before tucking it behind Daniil Tarasov. Dorofeyev has three goals and five points in four games since being promoted from AHL Henderson, and he hasn't looked out of place in a top-six role for Vegas.
