However, it doesn't appear as though the Stars expect him to miss significant time since he's labeled as day-to-day. His next chance to suit up will be at home against the Oilers on Saturday.

Signs eight-year extension Oettinger has inked an eight-year, $66 million contract with the Stars on Thursday.
Impact Oettinger gets the same contract that Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman signed 11 days ago. Oettinger is 3-0-0 with a 1.63 GAA and a .948 save percentage this season. Oettinger has been the No. 1 goaltender with the Stars over the last three seasons and that will continue with this contract extension.

Facing Capitals DeSmith was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate, per Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press, and is expected to patrol the visiting crease in Washington on Thursday.
Impact DeSmith was perfect in his first start in a Dallas uniform Sunday, turning aside all 25 shots in a 2-0 victory over Seattle. DeSmith gave up two goals on 24 shots in his only appearance last season versus Washington, as a member of the Canucks. The Capitals have scored seven goals in two games this season, scoring twice on the power play in six opportunities.

Impact Marchment has gotten off to a good start in 2024-25 with five points, eight shots on net, three hits, six PIM and a plus-4 rating over four contests. He set up linemate Matt Duchene on the Stars' first goal of this game. Marchment appears to be a lock for a second-line role, where he can provide secondary scoring and some grit to provide fantasy value in a variety of ways.

Assists in consecutive games Stankoven logged an assist and a game-high five shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Sharks.
Impact Stankoven helped out on Matt Duchene's second-period tally. The helper was Stankoven's second in as many games and his fifth of the year across four contests. The 21-year-old rookie has added 10 shots on net and a plus-3 rating. While he began the season on the first line, Stankoven was down to a third-line role for the second game in a row Tuesday, though he saw his most ice time in any game (17:51) in this contest, as the Stars tend to balance the usage across the top-nine forwards.

Deals helper in shootout win Johnston registered an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Sharks.
Impact Johnston stretched his season-opening point streak to four games (one goal, three assists) when he helped out on a Roope Hintz tally late in the second period. In addition to the steady offense, Johnston has six shots on net, three blocked shots and a plus-3 rating while seeing time on both the first and third lines at various times. The 21-year-old forward had 65 points in 82 regular-season outings last year, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him come close to a point-per-game pace in 2024-25 given he plays a key role on a team that can produce goals in a variety of ways.

Impact Robertson also had one of the Stars' three tallies in the shootout. The winger hasn't done a lot on offense so far, collecting two points, 11 shots on net and a plus-2 rating across four contests. Despite the lack of results, he's a first-line fixture in Dallas and should eventually warm up when more of his shots start to fall.
