Joining Chinese club O'Regan agreed to terms on a one-year deal with KHL club Kunlun Red Star on Monday.

Impact O'Regan last played in the NHL back in 2021-22 when he was with the Ducks before spending all of the 2023-24 campaign playing in Sweden. At this point, the 30-year-old center will likely play out his career overseas, eventually retiring having played in 30 NHL contests in which he generated one goal and five assists.

Back in AHL O'Regan was sent to AHL Grand Rapids on Wednesday.

Impact Detroit summoned O'Regan on an emergency basis Tuesday, but he didn't end up playing for the Red Wings. The 29-year-old has 17 goals and 48 points in 64 AHL contests between San Diego and Grand Rapids this season.

Impact Although he's been promoted, at this point it isn't clear if O'Regan will draw into the lineup for Tuesday night's game versus the Hurricanes. He's picked up 48 points through 64 minor-league appearances split between AHL San Diego and AHL Grand Rapids this season.
