Marco Kasper - Falls short of rosterKasper was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Friday, per CapFriendly.
ImpactKasper likely faced an uphill battle for a spot as a 19-year-old, and he didn't set himself apart enough in camp. The Austrian forward was injured in his NHL debut last season, but that injury didn't hamper him during training camp.

Sam Lafferty - On the bubbleLafferty, who auditioned early in camp on a line with John Tavares, is on the bubble for a roster spot because of his $1.15 million salary, reports The Athletic.
ImpactHe earns about $375,000 more than the league minimum, and that matters a lot on a team at the ceiling. Most of Lafferty's competition makes the minimum. And he wasn't on a regular line in the final week of camp. That's never a good sign. Lafferty would surely be scooped up if he's put on waivers, and in the right situation, he could help on another team's third line. Stay tuned -- the waiver deadline is 2 pm Eastern Sunday.

William Nylander - Back at wing with scoring touchNylander returned to wing Thursday against Detroit and scored twice in a 4-3 overtime win.
ImpactThe second goal clinched the game. Nylander was back on John Tavares' wing because of the emergence of 19-year-old rookie pivot, Fraser Minten, who has been lauded for his strong defensive play and impressive hockey sense. If Minten makes the team, Nylander could be back with JT permanently. But it remains to be seen if the Leafs can juggle their roster sufficiently to carry a rookie center at C3.

Fraser Minten - May force way onto teamMinten, who is just 19, has put in a strong showing in training camp and may force his way onto the Leafs roster to start the season, reports the Toronto Star.
ImpactMinten has stood out with his strong defensive play and excellent hockey sense. So much so that the Leafs moved William Nylander out of center and back onto wing Thursday in a 4-3 OT win over the Red Wings. Minten was held off the scoresheet, but also held the Wings off the sheet when he was on the ice. He won eight of 12 faceoffs in 12:52 and put up two shots and two hits. Coach Sheldon Keefe had already been raving about Minten after this week's game in Montreal. "He goes out (in) Montreal and plays head to head against Nick Suzuki or Kirby Dach every night, every shift. And he did a great job there." Should Minten make the team, the Leafs will need to juggle the lineup to accommodate him.

Alex Lyon - Does his part in preseason tiltLyon set aside 25 of 28 shots in Thursday's 4-3, preseason overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.
ImpactLyon, who is competing with veteran James Riemer for the No. 2 roster spot in Detroit's goal, played the entire game with Toronto dressing most of its regulars, ultimately earning praise from Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde. "Big saves and doesn't seem to be vulnerable to a soft goal," Lalonde said of Lyon. "You have to earn your goals against him, that's all you ask for of a goalie. He's had a solid camp." Lyon has a 16-11-5 record, 3.05 GAA and .903 save percentage between career stops in Philadelphia, Carolina and Florida.
