Inks NHL deal Ferguson signed a one-year, two-way contract with Minnesota on Tuesday and then was placed on waivers for reassignment to the minors.

Impact Ferguson has been playing for Minnesota's AHL affiliate Iowa on a minor-league deal this season, posting a 3-4-0 record and .900 save percentage in seven outings. Now with a two-way contract in hand, the 26-year-old netminder could be recalled to the NHL roster if needed down the road.

Impact Ferguson's days with Vancouver were numbered as soon as the team brought in veteran Kevin Lankinen. The club already has some young backstops competing for ice time with AHL Abbotsford, so keeping Ferguson would have created an unnecessary logjam. Without an NHL deal, Ferguson figures to spend the entire year in the minors with Iowa.

Impact Ferguson will have an opportunity to win a role in the crease, at least in the short term, while Vancouver netminders Thatcher Demko and Arturs Silovs work their way back to full health. The 25-year-old Ferguson was drafted in the seventh round by Dallas in the 2017 NHL Draft. The British Columbia native played for Minsk Dynamo of the KHL in 2023-24 -- he had a 9-9-0 record with a .904 save percentage and a 2.51 GAA in 23 regular-season contests. Ferguson has appeared in just three NHL games between Vegas and Ottawa throughout his career.
