ImpactGeekie left the bench for the express purpose of starting a fight, which resulted in not only 19 minutes in penalties in Thursday's clash with Tampa Bay but will also see the 20-year-old center sitting out a game. While his suspension may not have a significant impact considering it's just the preseason, Geekie needs every available minute to impress team brass in the hopes of securing a roster spot for Opening Night against the Hurricanes on Oct. 11.

ImpactBjornfot was a waiver claim by the Panthers back in March, serving as an emergency depth option for the organization during its Stanley Cup run. Overall, the 23-year-old defenseman played in a meager four regular-season games last year for the Golden Knights, Kings and Panthers. At this point, assuming he clears waivers, Bjornfot could struggle for regular NHL minutes next year as well.

ImpactAsplund is on a one-year, two-way contract, so this is no surprise. The 26-year-old had 44 points in 67 AHL games with Charlotte in 2023-24. He last played at the NHL level in 2022-23, scoring twice while adding six assists in 46 games split between Buffalo and Nashville. Asplund will be re-assigned to AHL Charlotte, if he clears waivers.
