Impact Samsonov allowed three goals on 29 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Islanders on Monday, but he's done well recently with a 1.49 GAA and a .942 save percentage over his past four contests. He's had a far rougher time overall in 2023-24, posting an 8-4-6 record, 3.35 GAA and .879 save percentage across 20 appearances. Dallas ranks third offensively with 3.66 goals per game, so the Stars are likely to be a difficult adversary.

Impact The Maple Leafs were able to overcome a pair of one-goal deficits, but the Islanders answered quickly each time to send Samsonov to his first loss in four games. The 26-year-old has gone five straight outings without giving up more than three goals, a stretch that's gotten him back in the No. 1 job between the pipes. He's now at 8-4-6 with a 3.35 GAA and an .879 save percentage over 20 starts this season.

Impact Samsonov has looked much better since returning from his stint in the AHL. He's gone 3-1-0 with a terrific .939 save percentage during that span. The 26-year-old has given up just three total goals during his active three-game winning streak. Samsonov is 8-3-6 with a 3.36 GAA and an .878 save percentage through 19 NHL appearances this season.

Impact After posting a 32-save shutout against the Jets on Wednesday, Samsonov followed that up with another win while surrendering only two goals. Early in the game it didn't look promising for the 26-year old netminder as Winnipeg opened the scoring with their first shot of the game on a Dylan Samberg wrister from the point for his first of the season. He pulled it together and kicked aside the next 24 shots until finally letting in a late goal by Mason Appleton after the game had already been decided. This was Samsonov's third straight start with three consecutive wins to show for it. After being put on waivers on Dec. 31, he is looking to play his way back with the big club for good.

Impact Samsonov will get his third straight start, and deservedly so, after giving up only one goal on 49 shots in victories over Seattle and Winnipeg. It has mostly been a struggle this season for the 26-year-old Russian, as he is 7-3-6 with a 3.45 GAA and an .875 save percentage. It looks like he finally has his confidence back and will face the Jets, who fired 32 shots on goal Wednesday without putting one past Samsonov in a 1-0 overtime loss.

Impact The unlikely goaltending duel between Samsonov and Laurent Brossoit was finally ended when Auston Matthews deflected home a Morgan Rielly pass inside the final minute of OT. Samsonov has had an awful campaign so far but might have regained his confidence during a stint in the AHL. Since being recalled to the Leafs' roster Jan. 10, he's gone 2-1-0 while allowing only four goals on 72 shots (.944 save percentage). He's still got a big statistical hole to climb out of, though -- through 18 appearances on the season, the 26-year-old has a 3.45 GAA and .875 save percentage.

Impact This was Samsonov's second game since being called up from the AHL on Jan. 10. He was not overly busy on the night, facing a total of 17 shots from the Kraken. He allowed only one goal on a Jordan Eberle deke from in close to cut the lead to 2-1 for the Maple Leafs. With just over six minutes left, he made a brilliant save by sliding across the crease and robbing Justin Schultz who was all alone at the side of the net. It still remains to be seen if Samsonov or Martin Jones remains with the team when number-one netminder Joseph Woll (ankle) returns from injury.
