Another gem for rookie Sorokin made 30 saves in a 3-2 shootout win over the Flyers on Saturday. He stopped four snipers in the shootout.

Impact After a wobbly start to the season, Sorokin has caught fire. He is 9-1 with two shutouts and the only blemish came last game against the Pens where he was yanked after yielding four goals on nine shots. Sorokin should be in your net if he's in the Isles'. His efforts are catching eyes in the Calder race.

Taking on Flyers Sorokin will guard the home net in Saturday's game versus the Flyers, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Impact Sorokin was yanked from his last start after allowing four goals on nine shots. The 25-year-old posted eight straight wins with a .944 save percentage before that dud, so he'll look to bounce back Saturday. The Flyers are an intriguing opponent, as they've lost five of their last seven games while averaging 2.1 goals.

Overwhelmed by Penguins Sorokin allowed four goals on just nine shots before being pulled in the second period of Saturday's 6-3 loss to Pittsburgh.

Impact Sorokin's eight-game winning streak came to a crashing halt, with Bryan Rust's power-play tally 6:18 into the second period chasing the first-year netminder to the bench. It was the first time Sorokin gave up more than three goals in a game since Jan. 31, which also happened to be the last time he suffered a defeat. The 25-year-old dropped to 8-3-1 on the year with a 2.24 GAA and .911 save percentage.

Impact Sorokin has won eight straight games while posting a .944 save percentage, and he's outplayed Semyon Varlamov lately, too. This should be viewed as another favorable matchup. Though the Penguins rank 11th in the league with 3.12 goals per game, their forward corps has been depleted by injuries, namely Evgeni Malkin (lower body) and Kasperi Kapanen (lower body).

Impact The young netminder pushed his winning streak to eight games, allowing just an Oskar Lindblom tap-in goal during the second period. Sorokin hasn't lost a game since Jan. 31, and his last regulation defeat came a week prior to that. The 25-year-old is now 8-2-1 on the year with a sparkling 1.97 GAA and .922 save percentage.
