Barzal's goal, 2 assists help Islanders beat Avalanche 6-3

Mathew Barzal had a goal and two assists, and the New York Islanders defeated the NHL-leading Colorado Avalanche 6-3
DECEMBER 5 • Associated Press
First goalie off Thursday Sorokin was the first goalie off during Thursday's morning skate, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports, indicating that he'll draw the home start against the Avalanche.
Impact Sorokin was in the starter's crease during morning skate, so it isn't very particularly surprising to see him draw the start against Colorado. He put an end to a three-game losing streak Tuesday against the Lightning, turning aside 30 of 31 shots (.968 save percentage) in a 2-1 victory. He started on the road against Colorado on Nov. 16, and he allowed three goals on 27 shots (.889 save percentage) en route to a 4-1 loss.

Spectacular in win over Tampa Sorokin made 27 saves in a 2-1 win over the Lightning on Tuesday.
Impact Sorokin carried a shutout to the 16:26 mark of the third period when Dominic James curled out from below the goal line and banked a wrist shot off his glove. He was spectacular at times, including a filthy left pad save on an Anthony Cirelli backhand in the second period after the Bolts pivot got behind the Isles D. Sorokin ended Tampa's seven-game winning streak and snapped his own three-game losing streak in the process.

Leaves ice first Sorokin was the first goalie to exit the ice Tuesday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports, indicating that he'll tend the twine at home versus Tampa.
Impact Sorokin is mired in a three-game losing streak despite posting a 2.47 GAA and .868 save percentage along the way. While the netminder is sporting a GAA better than his last two campaigns, he has struggled to pick up wins, recording just seven victories in 17 outings.
DECEMBER 2 • ROTOWIRE
Allows two goals Sunday Sorokin stopped 14 of 16 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Capitals.
Impact Sorokin was beaten twice by Tom Wilson, once in the first period and once more in the second. The Isles pulled one back, and Sorokin left the game to add an extra attacker, but Washington took advantage of that scenario to score two late goals. Sorokin has lost in his last three starts, posting a 2.47 GAA and an .865 save percentage in that stretch.

Sunday starter Sorokin will start Sunday's matinee contest with the Capitals, Stefen Rosner of NHL.comreports.
Impact Sorokin has lost back-to-back starts, but didn't get a ton of goal support in either contest; the Islanders only scored one goal both times. The 30-year-old's performance has been good as of late, going nine straight starts allowing three goals or fewer. He'll take a 7-7-2 record, 2.70 GAA and .901 save percentage into a battle with the Capitals, which he held to just one goal on 23 shots in the first meeting between the two teams this year on Halloween.
NOVEMBER 30 • ROTOWIRE
Surrenders three in loss Sorokin stopped 11 of 14 shots on goal in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to Boston.
Impact Sorokin struggled on a low volume of save attempts Wednesday, and his night was highlighted by allowing a shorthanded goal to Alex Steeves midway through the third period. With the loss, Sorokin has a 7-7-2 record with a 2.70 GAA and a .901 save percentage through 16 appearances this season. Despite picking up his second consecutive loss, the 30-year-old twine protector has played at a higher level in November and hasn't allowed more than three goals in a game since Oct. 28. If he can find the win column soon and prove that the past two contests are nothing more than a quick slump, Sorokin should continue to be valued as a solid option in most two-goalie formats in fantasy. His next chance to take the ice is Friday against the Flyers.

Impact Sorokin has been solid over the past few weeks, going 4-2-0 with a 1.67 GAA and .943 save percentage across his last six starts. He made two starts against Boston earlier this year, going 0-1-1 with a 3.39 GAA and .854 save percentage.

Blues top Islanders 2-1 to snap four-game losing streak

Brayden Schenn and Pius Suter scored goals and the St. Louis Blues snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the New York Islanders
NOVEMBER 22 • Associated Press
Gets little help in loss Sorokin made 20 saves in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Blues.
Impact The 30-year-old netminder played well, but his teammates weren't able to solve Jordan Binnington until there was less than four minutes left in the third period. Sorokin still allowed three goals or fewer for the eighth straight start, a stretch in which he's gone 5-2-1 with a dazzling .938 save percentage.

Facing Blues Sorokin will protect the home net against St. Louis on Saturday, according to Andrew Gross of Newsday.
Impact Sorokin is coming off a 5-0 shutout win over Detroit on Thursday. He has a 7-5-2 record this season with two shutouts, a 2.71 GAA and a .905 save percentage through 14 appearances. St. Louis sits 26th in the league with 2.71 goals per game this campaign.
NOVEMBER 22 • ROTOWIRE
Clips Wings for second shutout Sorokin made 29 saves in Thursday's 5-0 win over Detroit.
Impact The veteran netminder was especially busy in the second period, turning aside all 15 shots he faced as the Red Wings tried to get back into the game after falling behind 2-0 in the first. It was Sorokin's second shutout of the season, both of which have come in November, and over six starts this month he's gone 4-1-1 with a stellar 1.80 GAA and .939 save percentage.
