In goal against Maple Leafs Sorokin will defend the home net versus Toronto on Thursday, per Stefen Rosner of The Hockey News.

Impact Sorokin has gone from a top-five goaltender in the NHL over the last two seasons, to possibly a top-20 netminder this season. He is 12-8-8 with a 3.20 GAA and .908 save percentage, well off his totals over the last two seasons. Sorokin has given up at least four goals in five of his last nine contests, stopping only 219 of 246 shots. The good news is that he was terrific in his only game versus Toronto this season, stopping 37 shots in a 4-3 victory on Dec. 11.

Falls to Vancouver Sorokin surrendered four goals on 33 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Canucks.

Impact Sorokin allowed a pair of goals in each of the first two periods en route to his fourth loss in five starts. It's been a tough stretch for the 28-year-old netminder, who's now allowed nine goals on 62 shots in his last two outings. Overall, Sorokin falls to 12-8-8 with a .908 save percentage and 3.20 GAA this season. The Islanders are back in action Thursday at home versus the Maple Leafs.

Impact Nick Schmaltz's power-play goal in the second period was the lone blemish on Sorokin's line Thursday, as the 28-year-old netminder halted his losing streak at two. It's an encouraging outing from Sorokin, who'd struggled to a 1-2-1 record with an .888 save percentage in his previous four appearances following the holiday break.
