Impact Tkachuk was hit along the boards in the first period and was allowed to exit the game even after the Panthers iced the puck. The nature of the 26-year-old's injury isn't clear. Tkachuk's six-game, 14-point streak ended Thursday. He'll be considered day-to-day until the Panthers provide another update.

He also added one hit, three shots on net and an even rating in 16:15 TOI. Tkachuk has been on a heater as of late, scoring five goals, 9 helpers, a plus-6 rating, eight hits and 22 shots on goal. The Panthers face the Penguins on Wednesday.

He has points in 15 of those games. Tkachuk is shooting at just 8.8 percent this season, which is significantly below his career average of 12.7. It will be hard for Chucky to continue this pace, but never say never.

For the season, he's still well off the mark with seven tallies, 30 points (12 on the power play), 132 shots on net, 42 hits, 38 PIM and a plus-1 rating through 38 outings. Tkachuk is shooting a mere 5.3 percent -- after back-to-back 40-goal, 100-point campaigns, positive regression should be in his future.

Impact Tkachuk ended a nine-game goal-scoring slump, though he did register an impressive seven assists during that drought. Still, the 26-year-old's six goals and 28 points in 37 contests this season pales in comparison to his previous two campaigns in which he scored at least 40 goals and 100 points each year. Tkachuk's shooting percentage stands at just 4.7 this campaign, and it wouldn't be surprising to see that rise in the second half of 2023-24.

Tkachuk's offensive contribution was long overdue -- the 26-year-old winger hadn't had a multi-point performance since Nov. 14, and during his six-week slump he managed only two goals and five points in 17 games. He could heat up in a hurry after the Christmas break, but Tkachuk has a lot of work to do if he's going to reach 100 points for the third straight season.
