Headed to Providence Callahan was assigned to AHL Providence on Sunday.

Impact Callahan was drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Coyotes, but he never signed with the now defunct club. The 25-year-old will continue developing his game with the Providence Bruins -- the left-shot blueliner registered 17 points in 70 regular-season contests with the team last season.

Impact The 25-year-old defenseman had four goals and 17 points in 70 regular-season games with AHL Providence in 2023-24. Callahan will be returned to the AHL after Saturday's game in Washington, as he was recalled to fill out the lineup in Boston's final preseason contest.

Signs one-year deal Callahan penned a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Friday.

Impact Callahan has yet to make his NHL debut after being selected by the Coyotes in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft. While Callahan could make his debut this year, he figures to spend the bulk of the campaign in the minors with AHL Providence.
