Kevin Rooney - Rare goal in shootout victoyRooney scored a goal in a 4-3 shootout win over the Wild on Saturday.
ImpactRooney put the Flames up 1-0 at 15:00 of the first period with a great tip over Filip Gustavsson's right pad. The 31-year-old journeyman has two goals in 13 games this season in a fourth-line role. Rooney has played 273 NHL games for the Devils, Rangers and Flames over nine seasons. He has no fantasy merit, but he's living his dream.

Yegor Sharangovich - Goals in back-to-back gamesSharangovich scored a power-play goal Saturday in a 4-3 shootout win over Minnesota.
ImpactLast year's 31-goal sniper has had a rough start to 2024-25, but he now has three points, including two goals, and 11 shots in his last two games. Both of those snipes came on the power play. Sharangovich needs this little run to be a fresh start -- he has just four goals and one assist in 14 games.

Martin Pospisil - Snaps 19-game goal droughtPospisil scored a goal Saturday on a 4-3 shootout win over the Wild.
ImpactPospisil put the Flames up 2-1 on the power play late in the second when he redirected Nazem Kadri's slap pass past Filip Gustavsson's outstretched pad. He hadn't scored in 19 games dating all the way back to opening night. It's been a solid week for Pospisil, who snapped a 15-game point drought with an assist Tuesday. He isn't as good as his three-game, five-point streak to start the season, but he's not as bad as his recent drought. Wait to see what Pospisil can do over the next week or so before you jump in.

Dan Vladar - Gets fourth win of seasonVladar made 20 saves Saturday in a 4-3 shootout win over Minnesota.
ImpactVladar bent, but didn't break in the third when Minny turned up the heat and scored twice in a span of 3:25 to force overtime. The Wild are tied for third in the NHL with 30 third-period goals this season. He then shut the door in OT and the shootout to ear his fourth win. Dustin Wolf has had the hot hand in the Flames net of late, so this was a strong performance for Vladar to show that he may be more than a back-up. Don't count on him stealing the net, but there could come a time when he's back to a platoon.

Filip Gustavsson - Beaten in shootoutGustavsson made 28 saves Saturday in a 4-3 shootout loss to Calgary.
ImpactThe shootout went five rounds before Rasmus Andersson went five-hole on Gustavsson to win the game. The talented netminder has bounced back after a queasy 2023-24 with a 9-3-3 record, 2.13 GAA and .924 save percentage. That's elite.

Brock Faber - First power-play goal of seasonFaber scored a power-play goal Saturday in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames.
ImpactHe wired a point shot through a sea of bodies that beat Filip Gustavsson to make the score 3-2 late in the third. It was his first power-play goal of the season. Faber has 11 points including three goals, and 26 shots in 20 games after a brilliant 47-point, 136-shot and 150-block rookie season last year. There were some who thought that last year's scoring was an anomaly, and that part of his game might backslide. Faber is showing a consistency that fantasy championships are built on.
