Arvid Soderblom - Slated to start SaturdaySoderblom is set to guard the home goal in Saturday's preseason game against St. Louis, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.
ImpactAlthough Chicago is technically the home team, the exhibition contest is taking place in Milwaukee. Soderblom had a 5-22-2 record, 3.92 GAA and .879 save percentage across 32 games with Chicago in 2023-24. Petr Mrazek will enter the 2024-25 campaign as the Blackhawks' starting goaltender while Soderblom is set to be the understudy.

Daemon Hunt - Put on waiversHunt was placed on waivers by the Wild on Saturday.
ImpactOver the course of the 2023-24 regular season, Hunt recorded three goals and 29 points in 51 contests with AHL Iowa as well as an assist in 12 appearances with Minnesota. The 22-year-old is expected to start the campaign in the AHL if he clears waivers, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him summoned to Minnesota at some point during 2024-25.

ImpactJones is expected to pass through waivers and be sent to AHL Iowa. The center had 21 goals, 22 assists and 59 PIM in 72 regular-season appearances with AHL Calgary in 2023-24.

ImpactJones got the Blackhawks on the board late in the second period, but the Wild restored a two-goal advantage with Mats Zuccarello's power-play tally. Over three preseason games, Jones put up two points. The 30-year-old defenseman will open 2024-25 on the top pairing and see significant power-play usage, but he's missed the 40-point mark in four of the last five years and will likely also carry a horrendous plus-minus rating throughout the season.

ImpactThe Blackhawks played a sloppy game -- the Wild scored within two minutes of a previous on three occasions, including responding to Chicago's lone tally late in the second period. Mrazek turned heads in 2023-24 with a 3.04 GAA and a .907 save percentage over 56 games for a defensively leaky Blackhawks roster, and by allowing 11 goals on 92 shots in the preseason, there's proof that this lineup has a long way to go before its competitive. That said, Mrazek should be able to keep things close most of the time while seeing a starting role.
